Third party cover for other vehicles?
My insurance renewal is coming up in a couple months or so. I'm 19 and will have (touch wood) one years ncb. This is not paramount but would be nice if I could get third party cover for other vehicles too. I don't hold out much hope that this will get me anywhere but has anyone at such an age had this on their policy. And if they did, I presume it will most likely cost an arm and a leg. Reason being is that it gives me some freedom to drive the other cars in the family from time to time and these will not be used anywhere near as much as my car as I am the policy holder for that and drive that all the time. Would just want to be able to drive my dad to places in his car when he wants and this would probably be very sporadically as well. Also so I can drive about in his run-around shed occasionally too.
Thanks!
Thanks!
most fully comp policies will allow you to drive another vehicle not owned by yourself and cover you third party
you need th eowners pemission and the vehicle itself needs to be insrued but otherwise it's all good

Right thanks guys. What about this Chris Knott thing? Is there a rep on the forum for these guys that can help me out here? Would be nice to have it on my policy but won't lose any sleep over it if I can't get it due to age or whatever.

Im with HIC, TPFT and I am covered to drive any over car as long as its insured and I have permission. Im 24 now and been with them 5 years. I know they are 19+ and they are quite cheap and dont charge you extra for visual mods.
Quinn are a pain in the ass tbh they have a stupid policy after a accident to get you to sign a disclamer to say your not injured (sometimes they come on a scene of accident if they find out early enough) i know poeple dont like what kind of work im in but one of my clients was blinding at a scene of a accident and the quinn direct (opponents insurer) come to scene trying to get the mother to sign this agreement, it dont matter as the aggreement dont stand up in court anyway as we proved on every occasion.
Renewal is up in about 5 weeks from now. Will have a little look around. They quoted my dad £1700 to have me as a named driver on his E60 520i. He pays £480 by himself and he took a fresh policy out with no no claims. He is 60 though
Simply put Third Party insurance cover is the lowest form of insurance a driver of a motor vehicle can have. This insurance cover covers you from the cost of any liability to other people. If, for example, you caused an accident then your Third Party cover would protect you from any costs that might be incurred in putting their vehicle back to a road-worthy state again.
Likewise Third Party insurance also covers against damage to other people’s property and injuries caused to other people.
Third Party insurance carries no excess as you cannot claim for anything yourself; only other individuals affected by your driving can claim against your insurance.
