Default Need new suspension: springs/dampers or coilovers?

I'm looking at replacing the aging standard suspension on my saff. Years of abuse has left the dampers a bit soggy, and some tool's probably cut the springs

What do you recommend as a decent replacement - bear in mind I have three fillings so springs made from granite aren't an option. Need somthing that's good for every day use, but still gives better-than-standard handling.

And, how (if at all) are coilovers better than standard springs/dampers? Is there any benefit to having them?

Depends what sort of ride you like, you know what coilovers are like from my car, a nice direct feel but a bit hard, that's what I like though.
If I was going for something with comfort I would go KONI adjustable, with chassis dynamic std ride height springs, these still drop around 1", despite thier name.
If you are off this week you can have a drive of mine to see how you like it.
If you don't want a hard ride, the only advantage of coilys is setting the height, or corner weighting.

I've found my Sierra handles like a dream on the road on Koni adj and Apex lowering springs. Not too harsh but stiff, direct and still comfy.

My mate at work who used to do rally cross and grass track racing many years ago has said not to ignore Spax - any opinions?
