Default Ford Racing Gauges, Stockists ????

Hi,

I am looking at getting a ford racing boost gauge but need to know whether the needle vibrates. Over the years I've had Apexi, Racetech and TIM gauges and on ALL of these the needle vibrates which makes a rattling noise which really pisses me off

I know that the ford racing range are made by autometer so I suppose if an autometer gauge needle vibrates then a ford racing one would aswell, anybody got one ?

cheers, Duncan

not in my experience - are you talking about when the car is at idle and resting at -16?

no, I'm talking about when you put your foot down and the car starts to boost, I've found with all the gauges mentioned above all their needles vibrate and rattle when 'crossing' into positive boost. I dont want to buy one and then it rattlle, it would piss me right off !!

mine seemed fine to me - not a problem. have been in cars where it properly vibrates when on boost! the ford gauge is nothing like that. not too sure about its accuracy as never had anything to compare it with.

cheers lads, I might risk it and get one then, got to be worth it for the looks alone really

I have a custom made gauge pod around my steering wheel so I'm limited as to how far back the gauge goes, I know there 52mm faces but does anyone know the measurements from the front to the back of the gauge ?

Also do any traders on here keep them in stock ?

cheers, Duncan

I've had a few boost guages and never had one with a needle do that. Even my first guage ( a cheap and nasty TIM job was fine).

Bro has a Ford Racing guage in his FRST and his is all hunky dorey. Very good quality guage. It would be though as I got it for him for Chrimbo

anyone know the measurements from the front of the gauge to the back ? I'd imagine a autometer boost gauge would be the same wouldnt it

cheers, Duncan

one way to totally emiminate neddle shake is to fit an electronic gauge which has a transducer (basically another map sensor) under the bonnet connected in which drives what look s like a mechanical gauge.

you wanted to know the measurments,

well its 65mm/6.5cm from the front to the end of the stud on the back.

you said you had a pod built into the steering columnso if it was a tim pod built onto it then you'll just have to cut about 10-15mm of the stud.
