So what cars or projects did you have planned for your first car as a kid?????

When i was 15 i worked my arse off with 3 part time jobs, to pay for my first car with big plans for it. I used to get all the max powers and revs magazines and plan out exactly what bodykit, wheels, and other bits it was going to have. I used to plan every single part and work it out how much money id need exactly! So here are the cars/bodykits i always wanted as a kid but never ended up with.............

These are the actual cars that i had idea's to 'replicate'!!!!! They bring back good memories!

Illusion escort (based on a 1.1 pop or 1.3 at the most of course)



Skeete R5 (again based on a base model)



Dimma 205.......(obviously with a the smallest engine i could find instead of the cossie lump )



Max Power Corrado (planned for my second car )




I also planned to 'copy' the orange skeete golf but cant find any pics of that (anyone have any?). I didnt end up doing any as it happens and bought a Nova SR that i lowered with a few bits and bobs, then a Nova GTE that i bought already 'done up!!!'

i inherited the worlds ugliest kit car from my godfather when i was 16, dutton sierra

at the time i thought it looked awesome, looking back im guessing i was high on E-numbers or something, cos they ugly as sin!!!

in its defence it did run on small n wide weller steels with BF goodrich white letter'd tyres, plus a stage 2 cortina savage 3.1 or something like that, which meant nothing to me at the time except it made an awesome noise and went really fast lol

then i flogged that, inherited my 1.3 escort popular from my sister, and still have it nearly 8 years and Ł10k+ later

 

Always wanted a white RS500, ended up with a 1.1 fiesta instead

 

wanted a 2wd saph. and got one

 

Everyone at school used to read max power,, They thought I was weird reading Classic Ford. But i remember the mk2 rs2000's were about Ł2k back then.... always wanted a capri mk1 2.0gt v4 then one day when i was 17 i was sitting in my mates car during a lunchbreak at work, i was looking at a autotrader then this mk1 prefacelift appeared on this page... Rang them up as they lived 5 miles away from me. I went to look at it and bought it with my mum lending me the money.

When i was 15 i always wanted a saph cos. And I made sure i got one.

 

when i was at school i always wanted a escort cosworth lux in that lovely deep blue, but ended up with a Ł135 matisse blue (spelling) mk5 1.3, 4 speed it was in good nick even though the price admitted the body needed a bit of work but it was passable, but the inside for a 16yr old was i had a grey dash i didn't like it grey so went to halfrauds and brought a shed load of black and matching blue dash paint, took all the dash out and every thing else that was plastic and proceeded to paint everything in alternate colours, i did it sensible and left it mostly black with just bit's detailed in blue, put xr3i seat's in and a system, it was the talk of all my mates shame i don't have any pic's, because it wasn't a bad job for a 16yr old and i had it running mint on xr doglegs aswell, it was a tidy motor that i never got to drive properly because of loosing my licence on my bike when i was 17

i'm only 22 so still climbing my ladder for my cossie i hopefully will get there soon though

I always my nans erst she had from new. NOW ive got it!!! Shame its now as rotten as u can get - so im keeping the heart of it and transplanting it into my cab. Should end up looking like my nans car but with a nice soft top.

I always wanted a 3dr cossie, still do...infact i'd have any cossie really.
My first car was a nova turbo then went through a few of the vw/audi/seat range and now i'm back to another nova turbo.
I'll get a cossie eventually.

 

i wanted a xr3i mk3 and ended up with the earlier xr3 mk3, a set of rs 7 spokes, 3i interior and elec windows later and it was a great first car

 

None really, I had little interest in cars at that age and only lusted after motorbikes

 

I wanted a carisma kitted renault 5 GTT and that was my dream car!!

I to worked out everything I wanted and how much I needed for it to be done, bb performance tuning engine etc etc

Ended up with a 1.0l mini mayfair, which I made into a cooper rep with superlights a DTM exhuast and different arches!! But she got sold on and I bought the fiesta in my sig brand new from ford

 

First car i ever bought at 16, was a 89` Orion 1.6i GLS for Ł250. Added a set of 15" Alpines, lowered etc...



Was my first car when i passed my test had it 3 months and and an old lady pulled out in front leaving nowhere for me to go

 

Always wanted a cossie of of some sort since i was really young and now ive got one!

 

Wanted xr3i,got a black mg maestro that used to talk lol. For nothing aswell off my step dad

 

Saved like mad and got an Astra Gsi 16v on a j plate, had no life apart from the car as i couldnt afford to do anything else, was quite cool at the time, had throttle bodies and a calibra 6 speed box, felt like a rocket when all my mates had 1.1 puntos etc lol Ł1800 a year insurance T.P.F.T was a bit of a stinger lol

 

before I was driving and even for the first couple of years I wanted a capri, would have loved a 2.0 laser!!

me and my best mate both wanted a black Pug 205 GTi with TSW Stealth wheels!

The rector at my high school had a white Fiesta RS Turbo (two of my mates got in a fight in front of it one day, ended up over the bonnet - blood everywhere on the car, lol) and I really wanted that.

But my first ever car drawing was an Escos, copied from a picture in the Ford brochure (think it may have been the first sort of promo photo for it) Mallard green, kind of rear quater view? I'll dig the picture out!

Ever since then I wanted an Escos. Maybe one day........................

First car I ever drove was my parent's Orion (look where i've ended up again )

And my first ever car was a bright turquoise 1.1 Fiesta, that i put over a verge after only two weeks! Scared the shite out of me!

Since then all my car's have been ford apart from a pretty good Renault 19 16v I had for a while

 

It was always between the Fiesta in my sig and a VW Lupo. I ended up going for the Fiesta for the more back foot space and boot so I could fit mates in the back, not like it mattered because after a year I had stripped it all out, had a show cage fitted with a set of FRP seats

 

I always wanted a mk2 golf gti and a S2, And now i have both but now i would like loads of cars like Audi Quattro turbo, E30 BWM M3, Golf Rallye, Escort cossie, mk1 escort, Skyline,rs500

or a reiger kitted one, both similar but the kerscher looked better and smoother

 

i had a white colour coded mk2 xr2 when i was 17, it ended up citrine yellow though yellow was all the rage at the time lol

 

when i was 15 i had a escort rs turbo cabriolet and xr2 sold the rs turbo and kept the xr2 and know i have a fiesta zetec s

 

At that time (around 1999/2000), I badly wanted an old S-Class Mercedes W126:

i wanted a bright pink nova but i was 15!!!!




but soon saw my senses and wanted a mk2 escort and ended up owning this beast at 18, with my first proper car as a Corsa B!!

 

At school during the early 90s I was so massively into the whole Max Power scene! Loved the Zebra striped wide arched Mk3 Escorts especially.... (and anyone else who was the same will know they ain't called Tiger stripes!).
The Skeete Mk5 Cortina was a fave of mine too, anyone remember that?!

I used to mock up designs for ridiculous bodykits to go on old Fords etc back then, I even did my Art standard grade based around designing an Itailan infulenced bodykit to fit a Saph Testarossa vents, F40 spoiler, Integrale bonnet and Alfa 155 front splitter etc.....!


I'm still into (and own) exactly the same 80s cars now, just modifying them slightly more tastefully these days!

 

i wanted a BMW 325i sport.

 

I've no idea why, but as a kid I wanted either a Dutton Phaeton, or a Alfa Romeo GT Junior. No idea what possessed me to want them though?

Then Max Power came out and I found my true calling.

About 13-14 i wanted a fiesta RS turbo, then an escos then i fell in love with puma when they came out when i was 17.

 

i was always under the impression that pumas were for young girls or old ladys!

 

Ever since i saw Clarkson on top gear, say they Ford wern't getting the test esc cos back until they had made him one.. i wanted one! i was 10 or 11 at the time

still aint got one LOL

 

Classic Impreza Type R. Guy round the corner had one in a dark grey/charcoal/gunmetal grey. I thought it sounded amazing and looked amazing and went like a fucking lightning bolt!

Still want one very badly and hope to be the proud owner of one one day!

Most young lads had prewar cars when I was 15, like the Austin Ruby or 7.
In November 1959 When I was 14 the Mini came out we all wanted one but it was out of reach. Had a Ford E93A & then a 100E before my first Mini.
I was one of the first local lads to start to make cars go quicker, bought a Mini Cooper & strapped a Supercharger on it, interesting & very fast back then. My Brother still talks of the utter terror normal human beings felt when they were my passengers. 0-60 in 8secs & over 100mph was supersar stuff back then. HAPPY DAYS.
