Could any work out these equations using the substitution method please:
1.
x= 6y-2 equation 1
8y- 3x = 1 equation 2
2.
t = 1 - 7s equation 1
5s - 3t = 10 equation 2
3.
3p + 7q = 11 equation 1
p - q = -4 equation 2
4.
2d + e = -8 eqaution 1
6d - 2e = -27 equation 2
thanks

Dude, do you or your child seriously have a problem in substituting into equations? Getting someone to do it isn't going to solve your problem. Go to your teacher/lecturer and get them to help you

Thanks anyway.

Is many years since i did it last but I come to a different solution to the one posted above.
Q1. X=1 and Y=0.5
Workings: Substitute x in terms of y so the first part now reads:
8y - 3(6Y-2) = 1
Multiply out the brackets to give:
8y - 18y + 6 = 1
Subtract 6 from both sides:
8y - 18y = - 5
-10y = - 5
Divide both sides by 10:
- y = - 5/10
Multiply both sides by -1:
y = 5/10 = 0.5
Feeding y=0.5 into original equation for x:
x = 6 x 0.5 - 2
x = 3 - 2
x = 1
Hopefully you can do the other 3 questions yourself!

Tell the school then bud because it won't help matters especially when they get onto harder stuff and will need to make substitutions for other problems. I am currently at uni doing a mechanical engineering degree and I have core maths modules so I'd like to think I know my stuff. From experience, you have to nail these things on the head right from the beginning to I would go to the teacher and tell him/her your child has a problem and to help her sort it out. If the teacher is at fault for not being able to explain properly try addressing the head of department.

My daughter says thanks for the help and gives you a hi5,
She also asked me to tell everyone else thanks for refreshing her memory.
