Default Mk4 Fiesta Heaters only work on number 4?

The heaters in my Mk4 fiesta only blow on number 4.

They used to work intermittently (sp) on 1 - 3 but now they will ONLY work on no 4.

Does anyone have any idea what causes this?

I have tried a replacement control panel and the problem is still there.

Also:

Does anyone know if the 1.4 16v and 1.6 16v Zetec engines would run on the 1.25 16v Zetec loom and ECU?

Cheers
John

there is some sort of resistor to control the fan speed iirc should be available from from ford.

you may be able to use the loom on different engines but you will definately need the correct ecu for it to run right

Yup, it'll be the heater resistor. No idea where it is located, but i am pretty sure its an easy job to fix! Quite a common fault so ford should know what your talking about

I have a spare mk4 fiesta on my driveway so it's free.

problem is the glovebox isnt removeable on these cars and the little access panel i can only see the airbag ECU.

can anyone tell me where the hell this resistor is and how to remove it?

Cheers lads
