Wow. you been a busy boy Stu!

Quick question...with regard to this

Quote:
Selling items "On behalf of" anybody whom is not a member is not allowed. If a person wishes to use PassionFord to sell an item, it will take him just 2 minutes to register their own account. This stops a multitude of problems when the item is not as described and the topic poster is held accountable.
is this going to mean posts made up to today being left, or now the new ToS have come in, for those being deleted.

Do people have any leeway as to resizing sigs/avs (i.e. you have until 9th/few days after for those not around 24/7 to resize them) or are these just going to be removed from 9th if they are too large

The new siggy and avatar sizes are BIGGER than they were for the past FIVE YEARS so if your siggy is still too damned big then hey, you have had five years to get it right eh?

So banter is banned?

Or will everything continue as normal and the new rules are simply to cover your ass should anything legal arise?

Banter has never been banned and you wont find anything in those rules that changes that now.

All seems good. However the part where the mods can just demand your personal details. Has this been considered in line with article 8 of the ECHR? I would be extreemly worried about the abuse of this information.

If the request is for a direct prevention of crime eg fraudulent seller), I think you would be OK, anything else IMO is a big no no.

Hi Tim.
The statement i make is as follows:

If we have reasonable grounds to suspect that any information is untrue, inaccurate not current or complete, we have the right to suspend or terminate your registration. You are also required to provide reasonable information about your personal identity to any member of the Administration team who have reason to ask. This may be done by PM should you prefer
This is basically there in case we need to ascertain who a user is for such reasons as Fraud, Impersonating another user or as is often the case, we suspect the user is a banned one. I dont really see how Article 8 relates as this is a privately owned website and as such we are well within our rights to decide who accesses it.

Have members been banned as of today Stu, given your comment about 'some will soon be leaving us' ? I assume the sexually explicit bit excludes the Mens and Ladies Rooms obviously ?

In regards to Traders how about an 'ebay like' functionality which allows feedback to be left on all authorised traders profile pages. Traders also have their own sections within Parts/Cars For Sale which do not appear to the list of New Posts and are only accessible directly via the forum categories. This will allow people to browse the Traders wears and avoids PassionFord being saturated with for sale threads.

Leading on from this Traders can then manage these threads better by permitting/denying people the ability to reply. Trader can then update the thread to say now sold and the such like.

The above may help to prevent such threads which have recently appeared which show contempt towards traders whom people have had problems with. Traders who accrue far too much negative feedback agree to relinquish their ability to trade on PF.

Ok now i have found the right place
Can you clarify what can be classed as “trading” or not allowing traders as the rules state

Is the anyone on here near the southend area who works/repairs on the above as its been playing up for weeks now, making weird noise's and i have to leave the heating off for around 20 mins to get any hot water out the tap. Also the pressure gauge keeps rising to the red every 2 days, to drop it ive been letting water out the kitchen radiator (is this correct)

Anyone?
Now if work as a self employed plummer i would not be allowed to reply to that thread saying something like “yes mate i can help you call 123456789” as in the eyes of the rules i would need to pay a fee to trade to reply and help the guy out.

Have i got this right ?

Not quite mate.
As always, rules are open to interpretation, however, in this instance the rules state the following:

Commercial posts are generally forbidden unless they are placed by members with traders status. Any commercial posts by non trade members that are deemed to be looking to make money from our members will be deleted immediately.

Generally speaking, members should not be making a profit from other members. To clarify, we do not condone the buying and selling of goods purely for profit by anyone other than a trade status member. This is not easy to police but we will attempt to do so in order to protect the paying traders from unfair competition.
Hopefully, you will see that if you were to offer help to that guy and were not trying to sell him something then no, you are just a helpful member and do not have to be a trader. Our Own Tony Mannock is a great example of this. One of the most helpful members on here, yet have you ever seen him try to sell anything?

I try to be as fair as possible guys, I want this to remain a great community, but I have to keep the rules in place to stop all the robbers and troublemakers from ruining it for the rest of us.

I hope you dont think i am one of those "troublemakers"

In reply to TSM i have not seen him sell anything but i think it would be foolish to think that he has not picked up business from using this site don’t you Stu?

Not that i think this is wrong or am i against it and for the record i have no issue with any one making a profit.

My point is i think you have the rules on trading wrong; there are lots of members on here who could help each other out in one way or another and i think that is what forums are for to share information and help each other out don’t you ? i know you have personally used the services of members that are not traders and have benefitted from it.

The feeling i get from the last 18 months is PF has gone too much of a commercial enterprise. Yes i can see how R+B, Reyland, Matt Lewis etc fit into this site and i agree that the trade fee they pay is fair as they are selling/ servicing the “ford community”
But maybe you should have a sliding scale fee to allow other “traders the use the site” a bit like adverts in magazines’ when a full page add cost £££ while a ¼ page add is more affordable.
Just a thought

Stu,

Sorry,
It was a feeble attempt at humourous banter as that thread shows Tony "possibly" trading.

Things are getting way too serious round here ! No offence meant !

As I read it a customer tried to ring Tony to no avail and left him a message on here saying so. Please show me where Tony was looking for the business as i don't see it at all?

If anyone thinks I am silly, do you think I am bothered LOL.
I may get over it when everyone is treated the same in respect to user names
200mph anyone (nothing personal to that user)

Of course Toy would pick up some work here and there, he is a legend in the industry and rightfully so, but as long as he doest actively use the forum as a means to generate work via advertising then i am fine with it.

Unsure how you feel the trading terms are wrong, we already have full page and quarter page prices. You can trade on here for about £7.12p a week.
