Cheers lads, I thought I might share my pride with you and also get a project thread of my Saph up here.

Bought it from a fella near Stuttgart in April 2008.

Here's some pics of when I drove it home:













The spec it already had:

- 803 greens
- Stage 2 Bayjoo chip
- Dump Valve
- Samco Boost hoses
- 2,5" Supersprint GR A exhaust (approved by german TÜV )
- Wolf suspension kit (Bilstein Dampers, E&W springs)
- OMP front strut brace
- PU bushes
- Wolf 17" wheels
- Wolf Dash
- Boost, oil pressure and temperature gauges
- Momo racing steering wheel







Bought the car with a blown gasket, so started ordering parts from UK straight away:











Some parts I got from other sources:







Then work began and first of all everything was taken apart and cleaned:

After that I brought the car to a mate to get the engine taken apart and give it a full rebuild with all the new parts.















Soon more parts arrived:










Fitted all new sensors, distributor and dizzy cap sourced from Matt Lewis.


The MSD chip also arrived in nearly no time:




During painting of the rocker cover:




New mounting for the amal valve:



Also refitted amber lights:





Slowly everything is coming together:




Rocker cover finished and mounted with cometic gasket and new half moon seals:





Also got the samco vacuum tubing:



Ready to start to a new life:





Did all this within about 2 month and the car fired up really nice first time turning the around the key.

After the original turbo damper decided to let go on a full speed run, I had to order this earlier than originally planned:





Did about 4000 km after the rebuild this summer without any major problems, so I'm a bit proud since I did almost everything myself.

Since its now deep winter in bavaria the car is off the road since november and I have time to make some small changes here and there until the new season begins in april again:

New tyres to fit for next summer: Yokohama Parada Spec2 215/40-17



Gearbox and Diff oils will also be changed in winter:

Took the wheels off to get them powder coated:









Not a light wheel at all...

love what youve done with the engine bay mate it looks well nice especially the rocker cover in white with green logo and love the fresh looking 3dr in the background is that urs as well

That's one tight saph you got their mate, love it! Amber look does the trick on white cossies that's for sure. May I ask where you bought the turbo damper?

Looks like a nice one - you've done very well with it doing all the work yourself too.

 

Dont think they sell the genuine Ford item, but its built the same as the ones that were in RS500s I guess. Works pretty well from my experience.

looking well nice mate, i had my 3 door in Augsburg for 3 years till 2003, not many cossiesn around.Stutgart area there are few, Goettler did hill climbs iirc.
There is also a guy in Augsburg called Kaminski, builds mk1 and 2 escorts , with yb`s in em .

Right, there's a few cossis around Stuttgart area. Mine was a demo car from Ford dealer and ex DTM (touring car) driver Roland Asch. Still have the signature steering wheel and sticker on the car. Last owner had it for 17 years and only drove it in summer, so its pretty mint.

Very nice Saph! Are you staying with stage 2 power?

 

Its kinda stage 2+ since the turbo has a bigger compressor housing with a T35 compressor wheel. But might go for L8, Siemens 55lbs and a bigger turbo next winter. Not sure yet. Its already a lot of fun going out with it embarassing M3s etc...

 

Did you use to live here then? I'm 30 miles away from Augsburg. That Kaminski guy is doing slaloms in his MkII RS2000 aswell, isn't he?

Oh, and that's a stunning Saff you've got there Dave. The 3dr looks a right minter, too!

Number plates are well cool, I've got CO551 reserved for me in my Landkreis.

I've got an account on the SFD board aswell, btw.

Good looking Sapph you have mate. That 3door also is looking very good!

 

Car is already up and running. Here`s what happened in the meantime:

Got new discs all round:





New piping


New brake fluid


Also got new calipers all round and painted them straight black:



















Some spares:




New oil feed line with pre filter:


Ordered 2 new Stack instruments to compliment the others I already had and get rid of the odd looking motometer gauges.



Then went fitting the lot:








Got some hoses and fittings for the SpecR breather system:

Also did some heat wrapping since the original heat shield wouldnt fit anymore:
