Default What type of shell is this? PIC HEAVY

Hi guys, from the pictures below can anyone shed any light as to which kind of shell this is...i.e 909, group A or N etc....

The cage got cut out by a previous owner who wanted to fit interior :headbang: for a road car....i'm doing reverse now and putting it back to how it should be.....kence needing peoples help identifying what kind of cage design...909, grp A or N and so on...

Anyhow here are the distinguishing features I've spotted around this shell, not that i'm an escos shell expert or anything so i've just put up what I think is non-standard.

Sorry about quality of pics, theyre on my phone as cant fidn the lead for my decent camera.

Ok before the pics, it's a seam welded shell which has been used for some form of motorsport in its life, its got kevlar protection panels underneath and has obviously been prepped to some degree...I'd like to put it back to how it was intended

It has a sunroof , and a normal filler cap location....seems strange for a motorsport shell.

Rear strut tops gusseted and small patch welded to inner wheel tub, presumably for rear diagonal bars on cage.

End of gearbox tunnel, strengthened up, again probably a location for x2 bars behind seats to mount to tunnel.

gusset just behind gearstick on tunnel.

Triangular gusset holding remants of door hoop, this sits on top of tube that goes through the bulkhead to strut tops.

Exhaust surround welded into rear bench, under where rear seats go, hence why the idiot before me hammered the feck out of it to get his seats to sit flat :headbang:

Outer rear beam pickups sent through floor inside, again I've seen cages go to these in the past but the bore looks too small, its the same size as the bolt thread.

Front footwells have a triangula piece welded in, the arb mountings on the chassis leg go through to the inside of the footwell & on the passenger side there are x2 brackets, presumably for a footrest or guard for components.

Strengthened area on inner wings, looks like there used to be group A engine arms welded to them.

Airbox funnel hole welded up.

Strut top pickups for removable stut brace.

just behind arb pickups on front chassis, there is a strenghened area with a threaded boss welded to the bottom, is this an air jack point??? could just be a jacking point but the thread in it is making me wonder.

rear beam outer pickups have a welded in boss, nothing major, just makes the beam sit 12mm lower...it still mounts the same, just 12mm lower at the front of the beam....anyone seen this before??

x2 holes in lower area of front drivers side arch, dont know what these are...not on pass side..would hazard a guess at holding a mudguard on but thats a stab in the dark...and why only 1 side??

both boot rubber pressure flap things (let out pressure when you close door or slam bootlid) have been riveted over with solid.

Rear Spring cups plated up both sides.

Section above tank looks to have a removable section, dont know if this is std or not but this doesnt look like a DIY job, looks very neatly done, almost factory.

So anyone got any ideas?? doesnt really bother me what it is I'd just like to put the relevant cage design back in, so it all matches up right and hopefuly do the car justice.

Cheers
Dan

NO idea myself. But the previous bellend proper fucked that up cutting the cage out!! Surely the resale value of a motorsport prepped shell would have made it cheaper for him to sell shell and buy a road shell/complete road car.

Yeah it looks like they've made a mess destroying what was once an obviously well prepped car, no worries though; I took it on like this and have the ability (apprentice trained fabricator/welder) to put it right so not to worry.

Apparently its looking like a 909 shell (which I though initially and what it was sold to me as being) due to the rear cover over the fuel pump.

Cheers

Your boot floor looks very similar to my set up

It's a complete new panel to replace the wheel well and allow fitment of a fuel cell

Does it have a sunroof? If not then it's a motorsport shell, to find out if it was grp n or a like you said you need to know the previous spec.
To me if it had solid mounts etc it says group a. As grp n were pritty much road cars
Has it had a paint job? What colour is it underneath?
regards Aaron

yes it has a sunroof but not sure if it rolled out of factory like that, quite possible that the previous owner cut the roof off when he cut the cage out

Yes the plan is.......roofskin off and replace with non S/roof.....custom cage as close to original spec as possible (alo pics would be very useful )

She will be back to tip top shape again soon enough I knew what I was taking on when I got the car, I paid 3.5k for a complete car minus engine, box and diffs so not bad at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sold all the trim and bits so doesnt stand me at much tbh.

Cheers

if its a pukka 909 shell it will have a id plate saying so, looks like its possibly been prepped for a group a usage though with the exhaust over the beam, and all the triangulation.

but your right, crap pics
