Default driving other cars without being on certificate

a mate has a policy where he can drive anyones car third party fire and theft with the permission of the owner does anyone know which companies offer this and how old do you have to be etc thanks

Not always you have to check at the time of insuring and make sure its there as there trying to phase it out

Used to be the case, but they are trying to crack down on it due to too much fraud i guess, and well to sting us for even more money.

As said if your over 25, and have fully comp on your own vehicle, your insured on someone elses 3rd party.

(note that the 3rd party car must hold valid insurance buy the actual owner also!!)

As said check your policy, it used to be standard issue, but many have put an end to it!

from arguements with police and speaking to insurance co ,you are covered under third party extension,the vehicle does not have be insured

Wrong.

One of my policies lets me drive other vehicles, but states specifically that the other car MUST be insured. That is through Ensleigh.

A lot of companies are phasing out D.O.C. facility due to people abusing the system.

Check your individual policies as some change @ renewal. CIS did that in 2006. All new policies had it removed, even if they had been there for years.
