Looking to swap the engine in my Mondeo for something with a bit more power, at the moment my Mondeo's a Mk1 Estate with the 1.8i Zetec engine.

Would a 2.5i V6 engine from the Mk1 Mondeo be a straight swap, what other parts would I need?

Is there any other engines that would fit in? Not looking for a complicated conversion, I'm on a limited budget but would be prepared to do all or most of the work myself.

Any advice is appreciated.

 

Yes the 2.5 will defo fit so long as you have all the bits.
I would say it is going to be easiest cheapest to get a damaged one and then side by side swap over eveything you need.
The other alternative is the 2L zetec and tune it a bit, but ecu will become limiting factor.
If you were up for changing ecu to aftermarket power would be no problem keep a zetec on throttle bodies 200bhp is easy with other mods, on a 2L.

off the top of my head you will need the v6 ecu and loom and exhaust, engine mounts,drive shafts etc etc. also part of the v6 suspension if not all from the from end.
