Default Are Greenlight trying to loose business?

I have been insured with Greenlight for the last 2 years, always thought thier service was top notch, until I came to re-insure this year ....

Can't do it over the phone, as I have had a small gap (July) since the car has not been used, I had to re-input EVERYTHING over the internet, which is a real pain in the arse. Also, the agreed value and like-for-like modification value is crap , they will only replace like for like in the event the car is repairable, not for theft or write off . Which makes the like-for-like pretty useless really. The agreed value I was offered for a HIGHLY modied Escort cosworth was 14k , I was asking for 22k which is fairly reasonable considering the mods total 18k+ without the cost of the car.

I'm sure there are reasons they operate over the net' not the phone now, but for me one of the best things about Greenlight was the customer service and thier like-for-like policy, both of which seem to have changed for the worse .

Just gone with Adrian flux with all the agreed value for 22k and like for like cover I need for £80 less, but I feel quite sad that I couldn't stick with Greenlight as I have always found them useful

3 mates have recently left Greenlight as well due to the same sort of reasons, I can't get my head round how they won't quote over the phone!

I am now with Flux too.

Greenlight were really cheap and good for me when i ran just the RST.

I tried to re-insure with Greenlight, but as i now own and run several modded cars they couldnt give me the sort of cover i needed. :-(

Flux did me a quality multi-car policy.

I had the same problem with them and then when I got a cheaper quote from Flux went back to Greenlight andI was told thats the best they can do.

Then after a lengthy call with Neil (IIRC) after a previous post on here about the service he said I should call back at renewal time, I did and I had the same response.

Shame really I had 7 years with them and my brother had 5 and then it all went wrong.

I couldnt even get a quote with greenlight for a some weird reasons - always got told due to modifications, or some other crap. My cossie was insured with HIC for a good few years and even when I had to make a claim they were excellent - highliy recommended.

how can you replace like for like if you're not repairing the car? i don't understand what you're asking? in that situation the agreed valuation is what kicks in and the like for like bit becomes irrelevant.

also it seems that they do not agree with you on the value of your car, that seems fair enough. are you saying flux were agreeing on a 22k value but they wouldn't?

I was with greenlight for 2 years.... as soon as i had an altercation with a fibreglassed Paxo, they didnt want to know anything about it or fight my corner.

found insurance elsewhere cheaper too, so blessing i say.

but doesnt matter who you insure with, as long as your cars insured and your happy with the quote IMO.

Much the same with me I lapsed my insurance for a while, can you imagine giving details of mine on the net it simply would not insure me no chance, I went to Flux & talked to a Human being & made them believe my horsepower..
I complained to the Greenlight guy on here & he got me a quote but the damage was done, it seems they are loseing lots of deals.

you you think they will pay out £22k if anything happend, how much would you have to be the car back as finding one to replace it with similar parts are hard to find...i have been looking for similar cars for my cars valuation.

Not good really!!! Maybe theyve had some fundamental changes in their risk groupings/ underwriters policys.

Does seem bad customer service that there is NO phone option for "new" customers where the internet option is simply not good enough Sure, make people try internet option first but once basic details registered it should allow you to ring if needed.

MAybe its the credit crunch

i know greenlight had alot of changes with there IT system and the way they operate

found this https://passionford.com/forum/insurance/258033-greenlight-insurance-premium-finance.html amoungst others

they perhaps need to look at the way they are going about things

If the car got stolen, I would still be massivley out of pocket at 22k, let alone the joke of 14k they were offering IMHO you are looking at between 12-14k just to find a tidy standardish base car. Then consider the "big" mods only....

1) Gearbox is 4k
2)Clutch and hydrualic conversion is £1200
3)Front diff was £950
4)AP brakes- £1562
5) 6 Degree Rear beam £950

etc etc, bearing in mind my car is highly modded, and there are lots of other mods that cost a lot of £££. I don't expect the TRUE value of the car which would be close to 40k I recon , but as a lot of people like Dave cos 4x4, Mad Rod etc understand, 14k is a bit of a joke considering the money invested in the car, in parts alone let alone time and labour costs ....

Yes Adrian flux have had exactly the same photos and details as Greenlight got sent, and they have agreed 22k which is in my opinion a sensible valuation considering wear and tear over time etc.

Dave Cos 4x4, did they not let you buy your Escort back to salvage parts off?

im still with them and have been for about 5 years or more now, the only thing i didnt like was when i wanted to insure the skyline i was getting they gave me a very good price which i couldnt beleive, but they wouldnt insure my mondeo as a 2nd car due to me not having any no claims on another policy

now when the time comes to insure my escos, this car will only be used on dry days, so i need my mondeo, if they carnt help with that ill have to move on tosomeone who can insure multi cars

Think you lads have to remember Insurance is a business, they access the risk then quote, they aint there to give a cheap quote for your benefit, have you ever stopped to read some of the posts on here, to see why they dont want to take a risk.
Having a Greenlight man on here almost certainly opened their eyes .

I wonder if greenlight and other insurers trawl car forums for examples of bad driving/risky behaviour then put a marker and premium hike against those peoples insurance????

Or are they not that clever/devious yet?????

they have no choice,i took it!!

nothing is sorted as yet, struggled to get a decent valuation for mine, have to go through everything and then find other cars with similar spec so he could go from them, the engineer had to contact 3 salvage companies aswell to see what they would pay for the salvage, come back £2700 was the highest, so if i do get something back they will deduct that amount.

everyone, try and get your car valued before anything happens.
