Default Honda pulls out of F1 !!??

According to a Swedish website (the Scandinavian F1 television broadcaster) Honda has decided to pull out of F1.

Article here (Swedish text only):

http://www.viasatsport.se/content/view/17653/1/

Is this just a rumour or could this be for real?

Cars sales last month in the uk were down almost 50% on what would have been expected normally for november.

ALL the manufacturers are feeling that particular pinch.

Not too suprising after the season just gone for Honda & especially when Honda had said '09 would still be a testing season & should not be expected to perform

Wasnt it last week or so that Gerhard Berger sold his stake in Toro Rosso back to Red Bulls owner as he didnt think Toro Rosso would survive the '09 season next year unless they had the full financial backing of Dietrich Mattersich (spelling?)

Suppose you cant blame him though & at least had the sense to ensure the team will continue for another season with someone who can back them Think '09 would be Toro Rosso's last season anyway as i think rule changes on "customer engines", etc from '10 onwards will stop/restrict what allowed Red Bull to effectively run a 1st & 2nd team

Also he probably didnt want to end up like Alan Prost did with his old team whereby he kept running it out his own pocket & ended up virtually bankrupting himself as a result

A sad announcement but a sign of the dark times we all potentially face.

All comes down to how big the sponsors accounts are now unfortunatly. Luckly Ron Dennis and Tag sold half of their shares to i think it was the prince of brunei or someone simialar so theres alot of money availible for them, which is why we have now gone ahead with the P11 project that pictures have been popping up of. Was largely down to the new money in the company that it deff went ahead!!

I think this might be the first of many. Now Honda have gone back to core business and cutting back any un needed spending how long before someone else follows them.

On a more positive note for us Cosworth fans:

https://passionford.com/forum/showth...86#post3783086

COSWORTH back in F1 from 2010?? FIA is now in exclusive talks with Cosworth about the supply of a alternative, "low cost", powerplant for the teams without manufacturer backing.

Could be a great news for Cosworth fans!!!
