hi i would like some help, i would like to make an engine uprade for my escort mk5 becase i am stuffed of the 1.4l cvh engine. i would like to fit the 1.6l zetec engine because here in malta the insurance for the 1.8l engine has gone too high and it is not worth it to pay all those money for a car which i use only twice a month. i would like to fit the 1.6l zetec and modify it to a zetec turbo one but some people told me that the 1.6l is not very much a tunable engine and i would like to hear your opinion on the 1.6l zetec engine to modify it to a zetec turbo one. i am really looking foward to hear from you.

The 1.6 would make a fantastic turbo engine, up to a point (i'd guess around 250bhp max on standard ports/valves - you'd still need uprated valve springs most likely). It'd be very sharp and responsive.

The 1.6 is much the same as the 1.8, apart from bore size and the ports/valves are different. The same tuning applies to both engines.
