it has a date for a reason, it don't go off like milk though so it all depends on how it's stored and also what you are doing with it, if you are painting your garage floor don't worrie about it to much. but if you are painting something like a car or truck just do a test piece and see how it go's.if it's years out of date forget it if only a few weeks months then it should be ok.
98% of epoxy paint that leaves our paint plant only has a 2 year shelf life. How far is it out of date? Also what make it is....
After the 24 months you'll start having activation issues as the bentone additive will not struct the product and not give any protection...
Is it the chromate or non-chromate epoxy version you want to buy?

im trying to find out how out of date it is ,this is the stuff plus i be doing it with a brush
This is a 2-pack epoxy paint. It is Trimite A98, which is a semi-gloss finish paint, of aerospace quality. It is ex. naval stocks, used on applications on aircraft carriers etc. The colour is LIGHT ADMIRALTY GREY

If i wanted to do the underside of the car i'd use a nice 'etch primer' Good shit that is...
Usually Epoxy needs mixing with an activator.. Have no experience of Trimite so can't help....
Chromated Epoxy is not nice stuff to use without using some PPE

is that what it called etch primer and would i need to take the waxol off then etch primer then top coat what the etch primer stuff like for protect the car
An Etch primer would actually eat into the metal and give a superb level of protection
You would have to take the waxoil off yes, but if u painted over the etch it would last years n years before rusting. (aslong as you've sanded it all down to good bare metal)
When our company made it for the UK market (still does but for the US) it comes with a 10 year anti-rust warrenty. When used properly it really is that good!

You'd have to take it all off to get a good seal. I know it requires a bit of elbow grease but it'll be worth it in the long run
No worries about the info, Being a chemical engineer at ICI/PPG for 10 years does help out

if you are thinking fo doing the underside of your car. to do it properly you will need to remove all the loose paint and all the underseal degreese it then rub it back. then recoat all bare metal with etch primer then prime the lot then top coat with a 2k top coat a lot of work but worth it. any rust would need to be cleaned and treated before you apply any paint
