Ignoring the sticker, the real easy way to tell is by the co screw/pot. The L1 has a small yellow screw head, the L6 has a much larger white head.

Whats the L8 got?
I've got an L8 in my 3 Door and never really taken any notice of the CO Screw.

I took the ECU shown above out of 3 Door thinking it was an L1 as when I got the car ( 5 Years ago yesterday) as it was only stage 1 on yellows. But now i'm not so sure.

Here's a photo of the CO Screw looks like a L6 then.

Although just had a look at my L8 thats on the car and it looks the same as the L6 CO Screw.

3 door = WD4501 IC60 MED503C L1
2wd sapph = IAW 045.06 L6

This is what I have written down may help ?

that is a L6 as fitted too 2wd sapphire cosworths

also the L8 doesn't have any fixing brackets like the L1 & L6 ecu's
