Default Water Leak at home - Insurance experts?

Hi guys, went out for the day on Saturday for ma b'day with the wife. Got home about 8pm to fing the lounge ceiling bowed and pissing water left right and centre....

Its ruined sofa
250 year old grandfather clock
2 laptops
tv
Walls ceiling
Sofa
Coffee table
Brand New Wii that I got for my Bday
Carpet etc etc
Proof wedding photo's
Some Christmas presents we bought already although not of much value

My question is how will the insurance work as i've never done it before

I have a new for old policy with Zurich and the clock etc is named up to £x but thats the least of my worries

The flooding although severe is pretty localised to apprx half of the lounge ( 35 ft long )

Will they just repair the damaged parts leaving me with a room that looks like a dogs dinner ?

Happened to my parents last year - called insurance explained what happened, the insurance send out forms to fill in, you list prices of everything you lost & an assesor comes round to have a look & asks to see damaged goods etc & if they agree that its all cool and not fraud etc they just pay out, was quite straight forward really and they didnt quibble on the prices of anything.

They'll ask you to use their approved decorator etc but you can choose who does it - as my dads a builder etc he done it all himself rather than getting in some cowboys the insurance would use. My parents needed a new ceiling, all walls re-plastered the lot.

We had a similar thing in our kitchen last year.

The central heating hot water tank burst and brought the kitchen ceiling down.

The insurance wouldnt pay for the replacement of the tank, but did cover the damage caused by the burst.

Whole new kitchen ceiling and dining room ceiling, re plaster 2 walls and decorate throughout.

Took a while with ours cos they "alledgedly" found less than 0.5% asbestos in the old artex covering on the plasterboard.

The insurance process itself was easy enough. Just make sure you claim for absolutley every single thing thats damaged.

they will repair it all had a similar experience either the w/machine and or the dishwasher
was leaking the whole floor had to come up all kitchen cupboards came out etc
new floor, skirting ,paint ,plaster etc they did everything
teams of contractors for each job will be allocated through insurance
presents wise i think it will be a different claim keep all damaged goods record each item etc hope this helps
