All the turbo engines are exactly the same regardless of spark plug cover.

Watch out for smoking turbos, knackerd lamba sensors and crank sensor.

4x4 system is made by fisher price and most dont work and have been converted to fwd.
If its low with camber at the back wheels, chances are the transfer box will be knackerd, best bet is to find one with an uprated transfer box.

As for rust, check under the rear spring cups, sills, arches, well everywhere tbh.

Better than buying a v6 calibra, or even worse a 2.0 8v

To be fair they must be getting to be a rare car these days, most are now Nova's and Corsa's!

A standard one is easily a match for a standard cossie performance wise and lauching wise, and although they handle differently, I would say a match in that respect too (they are front biased not rear)

Tuning options are more limited though

Transfer boxes are killed almost exclusively just by tyre tread depths varying front to back, keep an eye on this and they give no trouble.

More economical to run than a cossie too.

As per the post above, no difference with any of the different colour plug covers, they are all the same car.

Given that they were the same price new as a cossie, they now represent something of a bargain IMHO as they are SO much cheaper than a cossie, they of course lack the iconic status of a cossie, but thats little to do with acutal capabilities of the two cars.

Would expect a decent one to cost a lot, most have rusted/had engine etc nicked.
Saw one for £3.5k converted to fwd, my old one converted to fwd while driving along, txb blew

Mine was twice as economical as mates cossie, superb on fuel, and happy at 1000 revs even in sixth gear, great off boost.

About it really, shit brakes, shit steering, shit 'leather'.

In terms of throttle response, they have more in common with the T28 escort cosworths by the way, they make even a t3 cossie feel quite laggy by comparison.

Standard turbo is good for 280 realistically, people get more but its on its knees from how fast its spinning and generally wont last long.

Changing turbo is hard work, this is the biggest problem with tuning them.

The management is much more sophisticated than L8 etc too, its actually quite hard to blow one up really!
