Default car sale/dvla question...

swapped my xr3 for the astra near the beginning of the year and posted the relevent docs of to the dvla.(must have got lost in post)

got a tax renewal letter for the 3i through the door,how do i go about changing who is liable for the 3i now that i dont have the docs or the new keeper details?

If the DVLA never recieved the docs then you will be liable for the costs if there are any

Been in this position before, all you need to do is contact dvla and tell them the situation, but surely if you swapped cars with this person his details will be the previous keeper on the V5 of the car you now have??

If you gave the guy the green slip off the V5 tell him to send that and a V62 with all his details to the DVLA with no fee and tick the 1st box on the bottom of the form they will send him a log book.

i just had that and all you need to do is send them a letter saying you are no longer the owner of the vehicle
