Default Driving a sleeper daily.... more hassle than it's worth?!

The car in my avatar is the one I'm driving.... and even though it has a good few visual mods to 90%+ of the population all they see is a 1.4L badged old Estate.
So I end up on the receiving end of every twat wanting to give me aggression from 1.2 Corsas to vans

It's running a 2.0 Zetec on throttle bodies after all, and can match the average modern hot hatch (Astra VXR Focus ST etc ) yet still I get fuds in taxis and other random slow shit wanting races..... I'm all for giving the quicker stuff a fright, belive me it's great fun, especially the arsey reps. But it gets a bit boring after a while being cut up by pensioners in motorised wheelchairs who think they can beat you....

Anyone else experience this whilst driving sleepers/stuff that's out of the ordinary?

Dozy twats have no imagination.......
First rule of a sleeper after all is 'don't believe the boot badge'..... kinda defeats the purpose when you have to spell it out for everyone

I'm sticking with my original boot badges for now!

I had similier problems (Believe it or not) in my Esc Cos, due to no rear spolier from factory. Bloke down Southend stopped me and asked if it was genuine as in his words "Its a good replica" I removed the rear boot badges and another bloke in a BMW pulled up to a set of lights and asked if it was genuine. I said no

i put all my running gear into an old sierra estate a few years ago over the winter
had a right laugh for a while
then got bored of the shite looks and handling(rear suspensions differant on estate so cant be swapped)
even went to crail with 420bhp, shocked a few evo's that day
by the summer i wanted my saph back on the road
but i loved my winter in the shell that i didn't care if i wraped it round a lampost and the day at crail beating skylines and evo's in an old soerra estate i will remember for ever

I used to get it in the S1, EVERYONE wants to sit an inch off your bumper goading you you, drove me mad.

But, when sitting at some lights one day, two lads on hairdryers are chatting to each other and say "that's a replica, bet it's just a shitty 1.1"

As the lights change they went for the big over take, couldn't help myself, nailed it and left them way way back in the mirror!!

The civic tends to attract all the chavs in corsa's and puntos, makes me laught when they hammer it past you as you tootle along and give the look as if they have just had you?? HHHMMM a race tends to need both people participating lol!!

I notice a marked difference on my dads xr4i, when we have the V8 badges on to when they are not on(magnetic), with badges on everyone one is up ur arse, badges off not a hint of it.

Its just as bad in cars that scream out
"DONT EVEN TRY IT PAL!!"

When ever we have to take the rally car anywhere on the road people try to have a crack at it.
I normally find that the noise and flames from the launch controll & anti lag scare enough people to not bother, when they start revving at the lights.

Most the time they wind down the window and say,
"What the fuck is that!!!!!"
You tell or been the odd occation they want a look. They then say,
"Shit me!!, I thought it was a 1.1 with a chav kit on it."

The bloody kit is a real one from M-sport. And bloody expensive aswell.

A mate of mine has got a boggo looking clio 16valve with a heavily modified 240 bhp williams lump on throttle bodies under the bonnet. That surprises a few

I got busted by one of them at Santa Pod.

I was in a Escort Cossie running about 370, and thought it was just standard Nova comple with rust.
I didnt give much effort off the lights, as I thought I would smoke him by the end. He had a wicked start and if it was 1/4 & 10 feet I would got him.
But it isnt & I didnt. Which ment I spent the rest of the day with my mates constantly telling me
"You got Nova taken!!".

i know exactly what you mean, my journey home consists of a short road upto a large round about, this is where you usually spot them, they sit at the lights revving the tits off it, i then show them the error of their ways down the bypass, then they finally catch me up going through a housing estate and overtake me whilst going over speed bumps

And normally when I'm in my work van.

Well done. You beat a wankey old smokey Escort van with a miss fire.
I always wonder if they pat themselves on their back.

classic love it miss mine everyday as it was just such fun, once i finished it was running 300bhp with 321ft-lb torque and pretty much wasted anything in a straight line

it is a C20LET from a Calibra Turbo, custom built and altered to fit in a NOVA engine bay along with the 6 speed gearbox, the Nova GTE only ever had a 1.6 8v engine fitted from factory abet this 1 had a full Group A spec engine running 150bhp and quaife gearbox when i bought i then bought stripped and rebuild a C20let engine and fitted it and ran it on Phase 2 Chips with a MBC holding 16psi spiking around 18psi

Here is vid of it on standard chips and 7-8psi of boost
