Strange choice of cars for rallying though!

 

What is strange about the car choice then? The Lambo is a "00" pacecar!

 

The germans actually use supercars in a seperate class. They ran at the back of the WRC round last year.

 

The GT class is normal in Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, Italy.

Special cars are developed for this, the most popular is the one we see here - the 911 GT3 road challenge, which is basically GT3 Cup car with different suspension, hydraulic handbrake and equipment for co-driver.

 

ex european rally champion patrick snijers now rallys a porsh 911 gt3, i myself think they are better suited to circuits than tarmac lanes but hey ho what ever

The guy was in top 10 among strong competion of all wheel drive cars!


By the way - before the revolution of Audi Quattro the 911 won multiple rally championships including sucess in Dakar.

 

when i say better suited what i really mean is i can't be bothered watching them, i get no pleasure from watching them rallying

 

Strange for me, but then many people like S1600's and similar cars and I think watching them is quite boring. So probably there are different tastes to it.

The driver of this Porsche on snow really impressed me.

 

marc duez is a great driver mate, he drove some fantastic cars on the european rally championship and the wrc iirc, i get absolutley no pleasure watching land rovers rallying at the tail end of our british rallys, they should get their own series.

theres some front wheel drive cars i can watch rallying, theres very few drivers that can drive a front wheel drive car well enough to impress me.

 

I know he is! Ardennes 2005 was very funny rally as they didn't have snow there for many years and as far as I remember it was eventually won by grp.N car of relatively unknown Polish driver who happened to have snow-tyres on his Impreza road car in which he came there for the rally
