Its a 8 valve push rod head, LOL.
As to the comment that starlet's can make that power, the renault 5 engine is carbed, has 8 less valves and also has a rubbish designed inlet and exhaust manifold. If we were to change the exhaust manifold to a tubular item we would gain an extra 20bhp and then think if we changed the management to electronic fuel injection and have a better inlet mani. We could then up the boost even more and easily be knocking on 280bhp and all this on a standard bottom end apart from some ARP conrod bolts.
BUT, with everything it costs money and there is a budget
Also, it is not easy to get 240bhp out of a starlet or everyone would be doing it. All the guys I know with starlets push around 180bhp with uprated turbo's, fmic, exhaust, induction and remaps. The only way it would be easy to get 240bhp from a starlet, is if you dropped in the 1500cc bottom end and then your talking
Sorry for that essay and thanks for the comments (& debate)

Good results on the 1400, on the punto 1400 turbos, about 210bhp max is available with a bigger turbo, fmic, decat, remap etc, then after that it has to be standalone management to get rid of the afm, and maybe 240bhp is available on stock internals with better manifold, bigger elbow and downpipe and bigger injectors. After that, it becomes slightly more unknown territory
We would love to go the fuel injection route and might do that next year, but we are thinking of putting a clio 172 engine in it and turbo-charging that
Sorry if you don't like the music and the front vent
STAVROS, I used to have one of those punto gt turbo's (phase 2 I think), very nice cars. Have you got any pics of yours?

Early stages yet, we haven't decided but I think more than likely we will be going for stand alone mangement like Omex or Gotech.

I know it's an achievement hence me saying good for the engine design but not for the capacity like somebody said. I'm not taking anything away from your results BTW. Good work.
Iv had quite a few 5's in my time
Are you on the RTOC, i got talking to a guy called mike wilson on it ages ago, he mainly delt and fixed renault5 turbos and done work on most of them in scotland, end up becoming good friends with him ages ago tho
I remeber he had this one 5 in, guy was from glasgow, tugny grey, 185 at the wheels, was using the first generation bb tunning electronic injection shit, turns out all they did was modify that erl water inejection thing to run fuel, but it was pretty ropy that guy was telling me and had constant problems with it, but it whent like fuck
Last i heard he moved to canada and imported his tungsten grey one and a std raider, and says there the only 5 gt's on canada, dunno how true that is tho

We had Bretts old 5 from the RTOC - B17 GTT (cossiej & I), I had many a happy evening beating the local boy racers in it
Went for a spin in K-tecs 172 turbo fook me did that shift
Jas just sold one of Dave's DIY kits to a mate of his, dunno if it all up and running yet
Didn't BB sell all their 5's off? Think J still keeps in touch with all the old 5 tuners
TNE Gho$t - love it

I'm not a member of RTOC at the moment as I haven't got around to signing up yet
(Ricky Lee & Aze) Out of curiosity what do your starlets make on the quarter mile?
Also Aze, I read your thread on your car (very nice) and would like to know if the Toyo R888's are any good? I'm looking in to getting some semi slicks but I don't know which ones are best for drag racing.
Thanks for all the comments

Nice GT Stavros, I used to love mine back in the day, but then my older bro took me out in his Escort ZVH Turbo and then the Punto went up for sale the following week
. I wish I kept it a bit longer, as it was a nice car.
(Semi Slicks) - I will deffo be buying some 888's after winter as everyone I've spoke to so far said that they are the dogs dangly's
