Exclamation 1.6 dohc engine swap 2 1.8 dohc

Hi i have a ford escort lx 1995, i currently have a fiesta 1.6 dohc engine situated in it running the fiesta 1.6 gearbox with the starter at the front of the engine.

I also have a 1.8 fiesta dohc engine, completely identical to the 1.6 dohc engine, what i would like to know is, is that someone told me that i can put this engine straight in and run the same 1.6 fiesta gearbox and the current ecu, i know the gearbox will fit ok but will the engine run ok with the 1.6 ecu and wiring loom? if not how can i work my way around it and what do i need to do to achieve this??? also would there be any side affects by doing this???

the original engine that was in this car was a 1.6 16v zetec engine, had to change the gearbox obviously because starter was in a different place.

Any help and advise will be truly grateful as i dont want to put the engine in if its not going to work ok

Default

yer just fit the block and head from the 1800

its run a bit lean so be abit quicker lol

or swap complete engine all the sensors and ecu will all just mount to your loom this insures it runs properly

sure only monedo's had rear mounted starters, this doesn't matter as the starter mounts to the gear box anyway use the 1.6 started
