Default Insurance Policy cancellation

How’s this:-

I renewed my policy with Adrian Flux on the 8th of August for my Escort Cosworth, and have now decided to do a complete restore over the winter, so the cars off the road being stripped down. So I thought as the policy has just run over three months I should get a fair bit of money back while I have it off the road. I paid out just over £1100 for the policy, and stand to get £258 back after fees etc.

I think that’s a bit harsh.

Anybody had a similar experience with policy cancellations?

Cheers
John

I work for an insurance company and we wouldn't charge more than around 30% for a 3 month period or so!

You are eligable to pay a short term cancellation fee which is the norm, but in my experience thats fucking disgusting from Flux, again!

Can you find out exactly which company underwrites your policy and I'll be happy to check on what their cancellation terms are for you!?

At this point the policy is still running as it didn't seem worth it to be honest.

Had the same issue with another insurance company, unfortunatley its all in the small print. The amount you get back has no relation to the time you have left, thats been my experience any way.

never pay up front but its usually a sliding scale decreasing monthly the longer the policy runs but that is a shocking return.
