Default Mustang ute

well not to much to do at the moment over here while i wait for my house and garage to be built so as i was bored with the look of my old ute i thought i'd give it a facelift. i still have plenty to do but i made a start on it and thought i'd share a few piccs as i go along. the worst thing is waiting for the bits to get here and the price of postage lol. i'm still waiting on the wheels but they will be here for xmas so i have plenty of time to get it done before they get here. the wings still need finnishing off and the filler work tidying up and the lines sharpening but you get the idea of where i'm going. i intend to use the wings as plugs and will remake them in fiberglass along with the bumper as well as a few mates want them as well so i will drag a few dollas back as it cost me $5000 postage to get the bits posted to OZ as they all came from different parts of the US. so what do you think ?

this is what it looked like a bit of an ugley fooker lol

not the best fit lol so much for gen panel fit

i'm just welding up the wing rails at the mo and will refit them next weekend and tidy the filler up at the same time then make up some headlight boxs for the new lights to fit in but i recon i will have the only one lol

They're a wierd car those falcon ute's took me a while to get used to them when i was there-not the prettiest but it looks much better now

You'll have no trouble selling that conversion i'd say

the old falcons come in all forms from sedan to wagon and ute they also come in tray back as well. 4ltr straight six and 5ltr v8 they do a sporty model as well the xr6 and xr8 but they all look pritty lame the xr models have twin head lights and a bit of a body kit as well but just don't look that good. i looked around for kits for them and there's feck all just xr type kits so thought i'd do my own thing. i work at performax international we import the new mustangs corvettes hummers and chev trucks so i was lucky enough to take a few measurements off one and see if it would work before getting all the panels sent from the USA. i'm still waiting on a few little bits a bumper backing panel a few plugs for the lights nothing that will hold me up though.
this was the look i was hopeing to end up with but decided on a vented bonet as i'm not keen on the air flow one.

i still have plenty to do but when i finnish the front wings i can snap a quick mold off the arch so i can make some for the back end so i can make room for some big offset rims at the back end for a fat look lol

it has a 302 5ltr v8 it's pritty much std at the moment it's running 230hp on a fresh built motor it has a mild cam zorst and a flash tune as it is. i have a twin turbo kit on order at the mo from the states but want to finnish the body before anything else. when my workshop is built i will look into tunning it but for the time being it will be left as it is. i have a 351 and victor junior heads so i may pull it all out yet and start again lol. i would not go down the v8 route again the ba 6 potter turbo has a good rep and more tuneable than the old windsor but i'v already have paid for the turbo set up so may just run that at low boost and settle for around the 400 bhp. i fooked up realy as i new fook all about the windsor and asked a few monkeys here what i could get out of the twin turbo set up and was told 5-600 bhp i now no that to be bullshit as they split at around 500bhp. the good thing is stuff is cheap over here so nothing is set in stone but i wish i had asked on here before relying on advise from the fools here lol. at the end of the day it runs sweet as a nut and sounds awsome the 351 i have will save and i will keep an eye out for the ba turbo motor for the future.i have also found a 460 ford motor in an old ftruck but it looks a moster and again is old hat and for the work i would be better doing the 6 pot turbo conversion. the list go's on there is also the boss motor wich is better but not bomb proof so for the time being more than likely just a steady 400 from the turbos untill i get bored and change it.

windsor engines are great as a base but any good power levels your going to need to replace everything! after market windsor lumps have been known to hit over 1000bhp tho but as i say this is practically a new engine made completely from after market bits. 427 big block woulda been nice tho haha

i know what your saying ken zs i looked at loads of stuff for the windsor nothing to expensive but add it all up it's getting there as there is 8 pistons 8 rods 2 heads you get the picture so i will settle for reliable power for now.

well i start again this weekend so i will finish off the wings and hopefully get the bonet hinge's sorted out as i had to move the bonet backwards to save cutting it up. it all worked out well and by lifting the bonet and moving it back i can hide the wipers under it and give it a cleaner look fingers crossed i will get plenty done.
