Default how much for a rebore and who can do it

thinking about betting my 205 block slightly rebored as cyl 3 had a bit of a lip at the top,the head has just been done so that doesnt need doing.there are no knocks or rattles from the big ends so i wont need a crank regrind.how much should i expect for,a rebore, pistons and rings, new shells etc and an oil pump?also who could carry out the work?cheers, lee

if the engine is in pieces already then go for it, but if you're not having any problems i wouldnt bother

if you do all the work yourself it'll be alot cheaper than paying someone to do it

a rebore is a piece of piss, any decent machine shop can do it, pay no more than £100

ring and pistons no more than £400 for standard mahle ones

pm matt lewis off here, he has them all in stock

it was burning a bit of oil yesterday when it was on the rolling road.you could see the blue smoke coming out of the exhaust,it wasnt a smokescreen or anything like that but it was definately noticeable.i did about a 240 mile round trip and about 4 miles on the dyno, the oil was on the max when i left and it the oil level is around a quarter of the way dowwn from the max mark.the tuner i was at said it would be minimum £3000 for a rebuild.i said i would deliver to them the bare block with no head.maybe he didnt hear me!

If it only does it when flat out on rollers I wouldn't worry unduly.
Try to get the bore done with a deck plate on when it is done, and you may as well just get the crank polished(cheap) if fitting new shells, other things you may want to consider are full balance as well as a flywheel lighten and skim.

never heard from tony yet,was needing to speak to him anyway but he didnt reply to the text i sent him.does cheap = done right?i dont mind paying for a right job.the car made 335 atw but the exhaust wastegate is too small so it cant get rid of the boost,im gettin that seen to this week so it will end up being around 300 bhp.

it was at ava on saturday,im getting a new .48 garrett housing fitted for£0,just away to take the turbo off tonight and get it crated up.im wondering if the breather is causing the problem as it never smoked before.its a bailey breather, its piped up correctly but ava said its not right as there should be a return to the sump and no connection in the rocker cover.

that is the way i have it piped.through avas experience they can fill up and dump oil through the vent pipe onto the road.the top pipe which goes into the rocker cover should go into the block underneath the turbo and the bottom pipe should go to the sump below the oil level.as it is lots of oil can come up the rocker cover pipe and as the whole system is under crankcase pressure the oil cant return to the sump under flat out conditions.that is avas opinion through past experience whera a cossie dumped most of its oil on the dyno room floor.
as for the turbo, its a t34 with a .48 housing, the wastegate hole is too small which was making it overboost resulting in a high bhp reading, ava will cap the power to around 300bhp when the housing has been replaced, and the rest is usual stg 3 spec!
