AJ, I don't want to sound like I'm being funny but RST ownership is hardly trouble free for any of us and I think you've had your fair share of troubles?

It's a long way and a demanding circuit.

I've taken my s2 a couple of times - always made it there and back under it's own steam, even with a dead turbo on the first return trip

If i took mine again, i would make sure Everything was checked and considered for it's age and condition
This was kind of how my old stage 2 turbo bit the dust on the way home the first time - it was well past it's sell by date and i didn't listen when told not to run it flat out for long periods (like trying to catch up when lost and chasing much faster cars )

Secondly, just go at your own pace both on the journey and on the ring

Also, it was daft things like a jubilee clip breaking that nearly stopped play

Intend on taking mine back at some point, was nowhere near as good as it is now - but it was still loads of fun and loved every minute

good photos
i would love to take mine over at some stage
reliability isnt an issue for me as long as the turbo stays in 1 piece

Thanks
I only wanted to go over in my own car as well, loved the whole thing
We took the longest driving route as well i think - i drove Stockport to Dover, through France, Belgium and into Germany. Think it's easier to go from Hull to Zeebrugge from where i live, longer ferry journey but less strain on the car

One of the other issues i had was things working loose after the long drives, would make sure everything was checked and tightened next time

Ive taken my turbo four times and done roughly 70 laps over those 4 trips.
Only trouble i ever had was a wheel coming loose once
No reliability issues though... Cant beat MFI

I had my RST accross at the Ring back in 2001, cant say I did any special prep work before going, just jumped in the car and off we went. Back then we had little idea about guest houses hotels etc as it was all a bit of an unknown, unded up we had a right laugh camping.

Been back pretty much every year since often multiple visits in the year, its just one of those places that seem to draw you back year on year.

Of the various routes we have traveled, Hull to Rotterdam is the best for us. The Ferry with car is in the region of £270, thats return with a cabin that sleeps 4 and 1 car(so from as little as £67.50 per passenger..
Accomidation at the ring for a B&B is from as little as 50 Euros per night per room based on 2 sharing.

European rescue is a good idea too as someone mentioned above.
Eating out is all part of the Nurburgring experience and is as inexpensive or as expensive as you want to make it. The food is decent and varied especially if you like sausage and steak oh and pizza..

Im sure there will be a heap of folks heading out in 2009 once the opening dates are confirmed, keep an eye opened for posts in General Discussion and I'm sure you'll be able to hook up with other PFrs who're heading out.
