bought a brand new t34 with a .48 housing to go with my stage 3 conversion.took it to get set up today as i have just got it going after doing the conversion.i had suspicions that i had done something wrong as the boost was well over 2.2 psi even with the actuator rod screwed out.the rr operator had a grumble about the exhaust housing as it isnt a garret and is a 2 piece affair.after the first power run it was obvious there was a major boost problem.he marked the actuator at its normal position and then he pushed it out and marked that position then did another run to confirm the new actuator was operating correctly.that worked ok on the next run.then we did a run with no actuator connected and it made 1.7 psi and climbing before he ended the run.he says the wastegate hole is too small in diameter and when full boost is made it cant bypass enough exhaust gas to keep the boost pressure at a safe limit.he said for stage 3 he sets the actuator at 1.5 psi, which i cannot get as even without the actuator it makes 1.7 psi.has anybody heard or had experience of this before.im not happy as the turbo wasnt cheap and its not right.when i get another housing im going to have to travel to glasgow to get it set up again and pay for it again when i would have got it all done today if the turbo had been right.
What make of housing is it ?, as my T3/34 has a two piece housing and is defo genuine garrett as cost me £150, just for the turbine housing.
I can defo recommend the TURBOCENTRE 01924 404112.

is the car being mapped or just set up?
i believe there are some garret units which are 2 piece, but if you are going to change it make sure you change it for the same size, as if you change it for a .55 or .63 you will probably have to change your chip.

yeah,it is a 2 piece,it is a garret compressor and a no name housing.i want to get a .63 as that was what the tuner recommended over a .48.it is an msd chip so i think i can get it reprogrammed for a .63 housing.
