Default Fuel pump and wiring loom

I'm going to replace the whole fuel pump bracket with a new one and was wondering what kind of fuel pump I should buy to match the original one? Is there also a rewiring loom available that fits the original couplings?

Cheers!

Thanks pal. Yes, I've had a look at eBay. Would this pump and this loom fit directly without any mods?

I dont think so, judging by the picture of the loom, it only has ring terminals for connection to the pump so you would need to take them off and put your old ones on.

i wouldnt bother with a rewire kit, just do it yourself, alot cheaper - any decent electrical shop can sell you the cable and relay

Maby not, I'll see what condition the cables are in when I carry out the whole fuel bracket. So the 044 pump has got the same couplings as the original one? No difference here?

make sure you replace the cables with a direct feed from the battery, even if you think the look OK, i have a wiring diagram here if you need it

the fittings are different on the 044 pumps; i'm sure they need ring connectors with a nut and bolt

the original pumps have push on fittings......or have i got that the wrong way round?

Yeah the 044 pump has the threads with nuts for ring connectors,
Stian if you do a search on here for fuel pump rewire then there has been a few threads with diagrams.
I got a 044 from face motorsport in norway, The adapter for the pump to tank hose was not a great fit and kept leaking a bit.
Good luck. Steve

The std pump is certainly fine at 380bhp, the 941, but as said a simple job to rewire and just use your existing feed to trigger the relay.
Up behind the rear seat upright on the left hand side of the car there is a convenient 8mm hole that I used to hold my fuel pump relay holder, also easy to take out then at shows etc for a bit of extra security.
Also make sure you put on a new earth, direct to battery, don't go to body as the whole point is to try and eliminate as many high resistance points as possible, so direct is best, 28/030 cable would be ok.
Talking of rewires don't forget the fan as well as these are hopeless on cossies.

Those wiring looms are fine, all you need is one M4 and one M5 nut to secure the ring terminals on the pump, and the loom runs from the battery and plugs into the relay and the pump. Good luck getting a new bracket though...... Just get the old one shot blasted and powder coated, it looks in good nick from the other pics you put up. If it's not going to be over stage 3 i wouldn't bother with a new pump or loom.

I got one brand new bracket just beside me here actually, it only miss some small parts to be complete. I'm only going for stage 1.

@tabetha: Ok, so the standard pump is 941, thanks I didn't know. I guess this pump will be good enough then?

I'm very new to the fuel system and wiring thing so please be with me. I have a lot to learn about these things

I have to say that I was suprised to get 450bhp out of my standard rs500 pump. Are these different to 3 door standard ones?? I've got a new 044 but have yet to fit it. Last test at the wheels showed fueling was good and 408bhp at 6,500 rpm.

Do plan to upgrade it though, have a new fuel tray etc too.

standard pump is more than enough for stage 1, just make sure you rewire the fuel pump with a direct feed from the battery - i would even do that on a standard engine to be honest

The std 941 pump is very underated, and the 044 very overated, it is fractionally better than the 941, according to the flow charts.
Anyway both consume 18amps/13.5 volts at full flow.
The reason for the loom change is nothing to do with the power, it is the age of the original wiring, all wire builds up a resistance over time, connectors make this even worse, and 20 year old cossie looms can be hopeless.
It is all fine doing a voltage check whilst stationary, but needs to be done under load, a drop under load to 8/9 volts is not uncommon, so this is the primary reason it is replaced.
That 941 pump you picture is the std pump and will be more than adequate, just look around for best price, but at least with msd thier post/after sales etc is spot on.

Thanks fellas! Think I've decided to go for a std. 941 pump, genuine Ford filter and a wiring loom from 'Prometheus'. He said that he could do a standard loom for me with Ford connectors so I guess that will be bolt-on. I also found a pair of new banjo bolts for the filter at eBay

I just purchased a 941 pump from Matt Lewis today but I was wondering if some of you knew if I could use this hose from tank to pump? I haven't measured the original hose yet so I don't know if it has the same diameter. What kind of finishers do you recommend in both ends of the hose? Would be awesome with some stainless ones

dont know what chart you are looking at tabz.

but the amp/flow rates are wrong.

044 is:

200 LPH
High Temp reduction 30 LPH
Supply 13.5v
Current 13A
