Seen this on the news this morning, Westminster council are having the below graffiti/art/criminal damage removed.







Personally... I think its art and conveys a message that westminster council don't want people to see everyday.

As for Banksy - Whats the deal with him, does anyone actually know his true identity? (except ginge who used to drink with him, carlton leach and every other baddy in britain... on a sunday night)

 

Very clever, thought provoking art. i really like his stuff. His books sell for quite a bit on ebay to.

 

as a graffitti artist myself i know there is a lot of resentment towards the guy,
Mainly because of the amount of money he's now earning i think,
It's because technicly theres nothing to his work , But i must admit the thought behind it and the overall affect is damn good,

 

Does anyone actually know who banksy is? What he looks like, age etc?

i remember seeing in the news where they stole the security cameras from outside a large branch of natwest

 

Banksys 'Graffitti' is art in the sense it appeals to a cross section of people and provokes a thought or reaction from the viewer.

Just seeing someones tag in a rainbow of colour does not provoke the same sort of reaction, it may hold an appeal because of the colour but not provoke thought in the same way Banksy does.

But then again Tracey Doo-Dahs unmade bed is meant to be art

 

yep cant stand that tracey emmin crack head looking whore. i remember she made a tent with the names of every guy she slept with stitched onto the inside or summin? great lol.

as for banksy, i think hes great. and i used to write myself, but unlike most graffers i dont dislike him for doing so well and making money out of it. but there is no skill to what he does just some clever ideas.

he is a legend, he always does such hard hitting stuff.

i also wonder how he can do something like this unoticed

 

and that my friend is what makes him soooo good, there are thousands of decent artists, but simple ideas that can make such an impact is my idea of art!
