Could be getting hold of a new garage/unit,
Whats a good floor paint, and where to get it from?
Is the B+Q stuff any good or do I avoid it like a fat bird with 8 kids?

i've always used leyland floor paint,not cheap but has lasted really well on two garage floors mate. Got mine from screwfix.

 

B&Q floor paint will do; but the key in getting it to go down and stay down is how degreased/ dust free the floor is

get it as clean and grease free as you can get it

i always found floor paint stays down better on rough floors rather than smooth ones

 

Only floor paint worth getting imo is the stuff with seperate hardener.

I'd also PVA the fconcrete floor first to seal it, if its not already been done before.

Mate dont touch the stuff, it looks the nuts for about a month then just falls apart.

some things in life you get what you pay for, floor paint is one of them.

as said leylands a good one, or any "trade" paint supplier. But what ever you do dont get it from a DIY store!!

Ive given up on paint tho, my work shop is now fully carpeted
(with a black patch to serve as a reminder where my cossie droped its guts)

 

as above, seal floor first let that go off then use a trade industrial floor paint most local trade diy stoors stock this leylands is very good. i thinned my unit first coat down with thinners then thick second coat let that go off al weekend. b+ q shite paint wont last firsttime you put car on top

 

I used b&q stuff. My garage floor was terrible, concrete was like a sandpit! About 6 months ago I spent ages sweeping it out and painting it, put my car in a few days later, and where the wheels were sat overnight, it lifted the paint straight off

I used some of their sealer in the lifted areas and repainted it, and touch wood, its been fine since!

B+Q will offer a variety of stuff for the job and not only cheaply but it will also be well up to the job if done in the proper manner.
im in the building trade and b+q warehouse stuff is as good as any.

 

i used sikafloor 2-component epoxy paint with primer underneat

I bought somethin called international from B&Q. It started coming up after a few weeks of driving on it. I emailed them and they said I didn't prep the floor right...so why wasn't it coming up anywhere except for under the tyres. Email me for a photo if you want sophieroebuck@hotmail.com.

Anyway I did a bit of searching on the net and realised you want a two pack epoxy one and not the single part paint like international. I've just looked up the sikafloor stuff and that is exactly what you want. Not quite sure how you buy it from Sika though they look like they only sell to distributors?

Anyway, I got mine from www.vubasupplies.co.uk but there are a lot out there to choose from if you search the net for 'two part' paints. Vuba had a limited colour range and pretty expensive but that didn't bother me at this stage. Anyway, that's done the job so I strongly recommend avoiding stuff like international unless you want to be told you're wrong and there's some small print on the tin about preparation to say so.

Done it about a year ago and its still fine also done my mum and dads garage and dad is always in and out with his car and theres is still ok as well

what we use on our workshop floor is international paint that they use for painting on boats etc, its brilliant and well priced, in a busy workshop it lasts easily 2 years then repaint again.

 

we just had put down an epoxy flooring in my works (industrial not garage) and i must say it looks great, but it wasnt cheap, and most of the cost came from the prep work the company had to do! so maybe the reason why people are having bad results from the b&q stuff is because of the prep work?

 

Could be, I used that international stuff from b&q, i didn't bother to prime the concrete first though like they said in the instructions. The paint has started to lift where the tyres are when the car is parked in the garage, so I just put some old car mats down where the tyres sit and its fine!

 

If its for commercial use, use 2 pack and prep the floor properly or your justing wasting your time and money. Or pay extra and get a company in to do it right.

Stay away from Irish speaking man in white van offering cheap floor paint!!!!! from a job they have just done..............

 

quite fancy doing this at my garage here and also the workshop at work as well, how often would you need to re-do it roughly and how much does it usually cost for good stuff?
