Where are you fitting the gauge bud? I took my feed from the clock loom as removed clock and put gauges in there.

You want the grey/yellow trace wire that goes to the back of the dash clocks. connect your +12V illumination wire into that and it will dim the same as the main clocks.

However, make sure to check that you do not have an LED instead as if you dim the lights, it will simply turn off instead of dimming.

Slight problem mate i don't have a grey/yellow wire.

If anyone can give me the number of the slot on the plug i will go off that.

Or if anyone can confirm the colour of the wire on a 86 3dr

The dim switch has 2x grey/green 1x grey & 1x brown which one could i go off

Cheers.

Just get the clocks out, look at the bulb holders for the sidelights on it, track back the wire to the connector and use a volt meter to work out which one is the feed and earth, job jone.

There are 4 wires on the connector to back of clock if I recall correctly. One is +12ve to power the clock, one is +12ve only when lights are on and the other two are earths. Just put a voltmeter across them all and the one that shows 12 volts only when lights on is the one you want. Good luck.
