Default how to stop direct debits

i've got a few direct debits which are now surplus to requirements, a few quid for the cumpter/washing machine/fridge/etc so that if they go pop i get a new one asap

they only total about £9 all in per month so it's not as if it's a major issue, but they take up a lot of space on the statements each month so i want to egt rid of them

knowing that i'll be cursing and compalining because as soo as i do everything will go pop but how do i do it?

can i just call the bank up and say "i want these to stop" or do i need to call each individual company to say "i'm not going to pay you any more, stop taking my money"?

or both?

If you have internet banking, you can do it online .

I just switched Mortgages and stopped my direct debit to N&P in this way .

I can do it online with hsbc. Make sure you have actually stopped paying them tho, or you'll have the bailiffs beating your down tomorrow morning for their £9

that's what i mean, do i need to tell them i've stopped the payments or will the bank do it?

or will the bank just stop sending hte money and then they'll start sending me snooty letters asking for extortionate ammounts of money because they've now gone bust because of the shortfall of £9?

the bank will notify them that youve cancelled the direct debit and they will send you a letter out to confirm it
