looked on fleabay and there all high pressure 2wd oil pumps so whats the differnce in a std one and high pressure?
any type to look out for?

difference will be a couple of bar... in both monetary terms and also pressure

they are the same pump, just a different spring in the relief valve, you can buy the spring kit for a couple of quid and convert a normal pump to a high pressure one

my std pump is in really good condition and done hardly any miles

open it up, pressure relief valve needs making stronger by a tiny bit

apparently you can put a slim washer underneath to give you lots more pressure, it's as simple as that

but i only know one person who's done this with no bad tales to tell other than 70 psi cold and 45 psi hot at idle

Would that really work then with a washer as it would be a non progressive spring, surely?

All spring by thier nature are progressive, this used to be an old trick on mini's packing the relief valve in the block, or fitting in a steel ball, on the mini, old style proper mini not the modern rubbish.
