I've got all these on various dubious DVDs.
The ww1 one is very good.

The very first series is a retelling of Macbeth and the characters are a lot more serious and less silly than the later ones.
Worth a watch just to see how very different it is.

I love Blackadder. There are rumours that they are making another series... the two ideas I have heard is : They survive the going over the top and the 2nd is they wanted to do one set in the 60's

Been a fan ever since it first started. Regularly has me ROFL.

"Always treat ya kite, like ya treat your women"

"How do you mean sir, you mean take them home for tea and cakes, and to meet mother?"

"No, I mean get in em 5 times a day, and take em to heaven and back! Hurrraah!!!"

And "Yes darling"

"Yes Baldrick, but you didn't say...Wibble."

And the dictionary - Contrafibularities..followed shortly by "I shall return, intercrastically" Genius!

"Coffee, Darling?"

Fantastic humour, and I agree also did genuinely managed to get across some of the grimness pretty well too.

i think they devised characaters after seeing the actors doing their acting in some other productions as they are just so brilliant doing what they do

that lady with the turnips in one of the old ones was just perfect for the role, along with her husband

lord melchet must have been written specificaly for fry after someone saw him with a big moustouche

etc
