As a lot of you know im a train driver.
Well today i witnessd a women commit suicide.
I along with another train was arriving at the same station going in opposite directions when this women jumped in front of the other train.
When i stopped the body was just 6ft away from me, was not a nice thing to see.
Why are people so selfish and screw up other peoples lives ?
Steve.

Exactly - plain selfish. She got what she wanted, to be dead and she had her reasons obviously and that in itself is sad. It's the poor innocent fuckers left behind including her family who have to deal with the aftermath. These people really piss me off. If she wanted to top herself swallow sleeping pills with a bottle of vodka and don't cause anyone else any pain.
cossie4i - i feel for ya buddy that really could not of been a nice thing to see. Have work offered any sort of counselling at all for you?
Guys - i dont agree with what you are saingabout people taking their own lives... its not selfish at all. To get to the point where you simply dont want to exist anymore, is the lowest point you could ever imagine. Youre not thinking rationally, and you are in a very dark place, but you are being far from selfish.
I tried to take my own life when i was younger, paracetamol, co-codamol, asprin, anything i could get my hands on..... fortunately for me i woke up the next day..... in hospital with a tube down my throat and covedred in heart monitors. I had my stomach pumped and a charcoal substance lining my throat and stomach to help absorbtion of the tablets.
So please believe me whn i say, if you are feeling THAT low, you really arent being selfish.

It IS a cowards way out, but its also a sad state that people get to this state of mind
Oh dear Steve,not nice.
Something that you have to think about most days in our job these days.
Its jumping in front of a train/lorry/car thats selfish.
Fair enough people do sink that low that they want to commit suicide, but involving other people out there earning a living/driving there vehicle is unacceptable IMO.
A driver at my depot had a bloke jump in front of him when he was travelling at 90 mph through a station, the bloke hit the drivers windcscreen, nice at 90 mph.
The kids that were standing at the level crossing on there way home from school all got splattered in blood and gutts.
The signal man in his signal box had months off work after the blood and gutts splatered the windows of the signal box.

Not the sort of sight, anyone should have to see.
Feel sorry for you mate. Do they offer any form of councilling to cope with seeing such things? Even if its just an informal chat, you may find it'll help?

I go to Victoria, Charing Cross, Cannon St, Blackfriars. All lines from Dartford to London. Down to Ramsgate, Dover and out to Sheerness.
Been Dartford a few times this week
Steve.
The bad part of the job, dont wish anyone to see that.
I get it the other end, once the trains stode 24hrs bleached and steamcleaned off, i get the task of carrying out a brake and speedo test, then repairing any of the damaged parts,
generally not all the guts ever get removed
smells great
Found an ear once, oh and a jaw with teeth attached
