Nice fab work but if you do go for one i would reccomend a serious turbo support.

I expect the manifold is only of 1.6mm tube so won't take the weight of the turbo bouncing up and down on it with all that heat for long before it fatigues and cracks.

Yes, just sand blasted.

You could always get it ceramic coated by zircotec?

I would have thought somewhere between £150 and £200.

http://www.randbmotorsport.co.uk/sho...p?ProductID=50

I know the guy who makes theese manifolds for mike, and they are proper goodies.
They have been developed on the dyno and gives wery little egt diff each cylinder wise and flow REALLY well.
If you want the best from your engine you shouldent spare anything on your manifolds, they make a HUGE difference

Due to its material properties the mild steel flange is less prone to expansion and warping than the one constructed from mild steel.

I believe he is implying that he uses the correct grade filler wire to join 316 stainless to mild steel.

Yes i'm well aware of this, but the flange doesn't get as hot as the the pipes and the pipes expand also.

The only difference between the 2 is the flange will expand more because it is physically bigger, if this was seen as a problem in his manifold construction then simply adding slots between the cylinders would cure this.

Its an interesting method and i'd assume he'll be using something like a 309L rod to weld the 2 together. But i can't see an advantage other than cost.

Edit, manifold looks cool bolted to the engine with turbo

what make is that manifold, Roosie?

what's the inner diameter of the tubes? it looks great, but won't the tubing to the first cylinder come in the way of the pipework for the turbo-outlet?

also, aren't these BR-Racing manifolds the ones made in China with cheap steel and doensn't have purged welds?

I made that manifold, the inner diameter is 44mm. The cylinder 1 runner is in the best place with the turbo sitting how it does. (length and flow)
If you used a standard cossy turbo then you could send the output pipe between the 2. Or with a bigger turbo just angle it slightly as is pictured.

I'l take a photo of the inside of a manifold here to show the purge.

Schedule 10 pipe? 1.5 inch nominal bore?

Thats what i've used in the past too. Holds up very well.

Whats your weld procedure / prep? One or two passes? Beveled prep?

Yes,

2-3 passes depending when i put in the filler rod. Route/route filler/filler cap.

Forgot to take any! Will do later, can't upload till tonight though as phone will only connect to laptop.

I make manifolds in everything from 22mm inner diameter, (1.3 turbo) Upto 50mm diameter, (what it's going on is a secret)

I've back to back tested various designs and sizes. With this been a 500bhp~ car 44mm ID is best IMO. On a standard cossy something a little tighter would give better results IMO.

Sorry for taking over this thread, I'll post a thread when i get chance.
