Default nitroused zetec turbo

as above me and some pals are thinking about putting a low boost 2 litre zetec turbo together probably running on a t3 to get it spinning quick and around the 200 bhp figure then throw a load of nos through it like the vauxhall boys and see how it goes as will only be cheap if it goes bang. just wondered if anyone has tried anything like this as the vax lads seem to be getting it all there own way, obviously the suspension, wheels, tyres will all be sorted to try and aid traction of the line etc

Once you have no wheelspin issues, then worry about how much power you have.

Me and my mates have already started a similar project, but no gas.

Low budget motor, decent tyres, welded rear shocks and major weight loss program.

Depends what budget your doing it on, Ive luckily got loads of bits laying around and as stated above you need to pay attention to suspension. Thats a lot easier and cheaper if its not a road car (like we're doing).

Managment also take a major chunk of budget as we found out!

go for it lads,
1st problem is the zetec rods and pistons are not strong,so it will self destruct before you get enougth power to do a good time.
2nd problem, solid rear shocks .any bumps will lift the wheel off the road, making the car unstable...
answers
use some good rods and pistons, cheap from the usa.
use a coilover rear, wind it up fully to put the weight on the front wheels, set to hard.

My old car had welded shocks, I've still got them left over from last project so know how they drive, not ideal for road but worked on strip ok.

Secondly, standard rods can run 300bhp, and Iam using ST170 rods which are stronger still. I only intend to run about 300bhp which I am sure will see me in a low-mid 12.

Stage 2 will be steel rods

i don't want this to turn to a , ow that's bullshit bla bla ,but i run 15" fronts 16" rears 215/50/15 R888s (18psi)on the front. avo coilovers nice and low on the front on the softest setting on the rear coilovers are on there hardest setting and highest setting,
over 330bhp with launch control and it has no probs against standard evos scoobys ect off the line every sunday night if you get what I'm saying.now you can say that i should kill them with that power but I'm neck and neck at the end of 1st gear ahead at the end of 2nd and gone by end of 3rd and theres a few on here that have witnessed this on manny nights
ps im dumping the clutch up @4500rpm and red line is 7500.

its a simple set up! its a bag of shit on the bends the back end wants to step out on you in the wet or damp but i put that down to the stiffness of the rear and the rear height

i mean its a reasonable set up to get the power down when drag racing.you can just adjust the rear coil overs down for road use.
does the front of your car lift when accelerating?

Crazycage - As stated, good set up mate. Does that size tyre give you many rubbing problems?

so now we've sort of established that the traction side of things is not to bad whats your thoughts on the engine spec and would it be best to inject the gas straight away to help spin the turbo up too or more towards the end to give a second kick round the 4500 region
