Default What can my RS Play with?!

After reading the playing thread i wondered how i would fair.

Im planning no getting my standard escort rs turbo (s2) to about 180bhp at interpro. Gonna get a stainless exhaust,k&n,uprated actuator,chip. What would that let me see in way of bhp? Also thinking after to get a cam (kent or piper)head ported & polished too and maybe uprated turbo. What bhp would that give?

With the first lot of kit - what cars would i be able to have (at about 180bhp)?

What about with the second lot of kit?

I used to have a rover 220 turbo with a few modified bits (exhaust,air filter ,uprated boost etc).Im guessing it was running about 220-230bhp.That could have my bro in laws gt4,bmw m3s,audi tt,scoobies etc.

I just want my rs to be as fast or even faster than that!!!

My old s2 was 231 bhp and used to take the piss out of most scoobs,maybe not round corners but everywhere else.

180bhp? Play with.......... Hmmmmmmmmmm..

AA trucks??

Naaah, should see off most un-tuned modern hot hatches. It's never going to handle or grip like one though.

Want it to go as good as my 220bhp rover coupe turbo!!! If i lowered it about 30mm and polybushed it ,will it still never handle right?
Also obviously gonna uprate brakes to cosworth front & rear.

my m8s got a standrd 03 plate scoobie so love to get past him.Used to blast him away in my coupe turbo when he had a tt!

It's going to improve, but remember it was designed in the late 70's. Modern cars have come a long way mate. Enjoy the car, but don't chase the new stuff to hard cos you'll just depress yourself.

And take heart from the fact your mate will be losing huge amounts of cash on depreciation on his Scooby, while your RST will be worth exactly the same in 1 year as it does now.

Without sounding like king of the streets

My Escort was 201BHP with 219LBS of tourque and in a straight line from a rolling start off a roundabout killed my next door neighbors UK 2000 Turbo, Focus ST170 and Starlet Galanza Turbo.

However brothers got an STI and in standard trim stripped the Escort.

My Escort (when I've put it back together) will be 260-280 BHP and his STI will be 330 BHP so that should be interesting.

The engine going into my Escort is the 2.1 ZVH out of my Fiesta Sleeper. In that I took a BMW 323i (badged as an M3 but it was too easy to pass and he was trying), Seat Leon TD, MR2 Turbo, Civic Jordan, Integra type R and a Honda S2000, all in a straight line though, no twisties. If corners had been involved I think I wuld have been in trouble

never had any issues with my escort round corners spax with ahmed spec springs... any damp weather was an issue tho ... wheelspin city no grip at all ... that was around 230 bhp...
loved doing donnington in it

150 - 160 BHP is what I would expect with these mods

Also thinking after to get a cam (kent or piper)head ported & polished too and maybe uprated turbo. What bhp would that give?
Somewhere in the region of 200 - 210 BHP I would expect

The problem you have with the RST other than power is that they generally do not stop, or handle well, unless its been re-bushed recently you can expect it to be real sloppy
