I think I saw that ad, as I was thinking to myself thats far too cheap, 'rapid' sale wanted or something, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is

I can't understand why you would use other peoples pics and pass it off as yours

I would say it was a scam or some sad boy wanting some attention

How do those scams work though ?

I wouldn't hand over the money until I'd seen the car, and they clearly don't have it.

Would you not?

Even if they met you somewhere, pulled a gun out and said "give us the fucking money or we'll shoot you"

Which is just one of many scams that DO work in seperating people from their money.

generally people are so desperate to secure the deal for such a bargain, they pay a deposit by bank transfer/paypal etc

That would work if I took cash to all the cars I've looked at, but I normally have a look first and then go back with the cash if I want it.

I guess a lot of people do take cash along though.

These scams tend to work by pressuring you into arriving with the cash I would imagine, like selling it very cheap, and telling you that you can look at it 7pm but someone else is coming round at 8pm, and first to pay in full gets it.
Banks arent open that late, so if its a real bargain you know that the only way you will secure the car is to take the cash.

Wouldnt work on everyone, but if it works on just one person its a profitable business!

Few scams running on there.

One is, get you down with cash and batter you and take the cash.

The other is usually a scam to extract your bank details or do you on a shipping costs scam, mate email three and got the same email back, guy moves abroad, take the car, now selling the car and will send it back over. They send a bankers draft for shipping(fake) and you pay the shipping your end (claim that is how it has to be done for one reason or another) then they will bring the car over to you, and you pay for the car then, once you pay the shipping it's end of deal, they own the bank account in the shipping companies name (made up company).

Thus keep your shipping payment iirc
