Ford did a press release and stated it would not fit. This was in the Mk2, so I don't think it would. If it did, you would be as quick as a focus RS remapped.

Any engine will fit in a Focus, how much time and money do you have?
Can't see a 2.2 being very hard to fit in.

If a 2.0 will fit then a 2,2 will!!

BOth engines are from the Puma family (sold as Duratorq) and the 2.2 is a 2litre bore with a 2,4 crank.

so you remove it from the donor, and put it into the reciver

probably something in the lines of a 2.2 engine with a big pro alloy ic for the focus RS, a big vnt25 turbo, bigger exhaust, cams, custom manifold, remapped... the works... something a little bit faster than it is now

Surely it's not that simple? What you have planned sounds great, be sure to start a project thread.

fairlys ure everything is the same on the cradle side of things mate

just had a look under a few of the connects and they share the same sort of locationg points as the mondeo for the cradle

even the hubs are the same i know this for sure as i've seen a few of them apart

so it really is as simple as finding a donor car, complete
unbolting the 4 big bolts for the subframe
wheeling it out from underneath and bolting it into the car you want to use

plus fuel and sparks and away you go

thats whats confused me!

the 2.2 in the smax is a dw [psa] engine, same as the 2.0 tdci in the mk2 focus/cmax/mondeo/kuga/galaxy.

swapping subframes? no-way will a smax/galaxy subframe simply bolt in to a focus!

they bolted a focus rs subframe into a transit connect
there's a thread on it just this morning

the cradle locating points may differ, but that's going to be about it, everything else should just swap over nice and easy, he'd just need to sort out the engine mount locations and job jobbed

As James says above, the Transit Connect is just a Focus van.
