Hoping someone here will be able to steer me in the right direction !

Right, my firm have just moved offices and where we've moved to isa right pain in the arse to get in and out of in the evening, so I've been thinking about getting a 125cc scooter. Already have a full bike license so no issues with CBT's or any of that.

Ideally after a 'twist and go' type operation, with plenty of storage space as I take a bag to work etc. Now I know you're thinking 'just get a proper bike' but I don't want one of those - I just want something cheap to buy, insure and run with storage so Blade's, GSXR's, R1's etc are no-no as insurance costs are stupid. So a mped / scotter type thing it is.

I have no idea where to start, so hoping someone else has some knowledge of them. What do I buy ? What do I spend ? Where do I look ?

Thankenyouplease

my mrs bought one not so long ago to get to work and back. we bought a second hand Aprila Sportcity 250 with a box. she loves it to get about on. Running costs are very low and it is surprisingly nippy.

One thing i would say is get a well known make as there a lot of imported ones about but parts are hard to get hold off and servicing can be a pain.

gilera runner 125 4 stroke. Put a scorpian exhaust on it to make is sound fruity and your away. If you dont meddle and tune them they are usually pretty reliable.

IMO italian scooters are the only interesting scoots. Dont own one, but if i was going to, I'd be italian.

get a old school lambretta or a vespa stu. think you can pick them up cheap enough and the look so much better than the newer bikes that are about imo.

Gotta be reliable so a well known Jap make is the likliest option.

Do Honda / Suzuki etc make these type of things ? Had a quick look on Google and can't see anything !

Ran - cheers

Gilera Runner, 125 2stroke. End off.

Easy to ride, use Castrol TTS oil (9quid a litre) well worth the money.

Oh and the 125's can pull massive wheelies

EDIT>>> i see you have a full licence, in that case go for the 180 Gilrea Runner.

Italjet dragster. Think you can get them in 175 cc and they go rather wellplus look very aggresive and also have heater vents in the fairing to keep you feet warm

one below looks ok, get a big screen for the front off a 125/180 instead of the small one of a 50cc. In the 6's for 0-60 on that.

Mr S1 why spend more on a Italjet dragster when the Runner 125 is a better all rounder. Also the Runner is the better one at corners.

Lads, this is function over form ! Looking cool is a benefit but it's going to be a work journey hack, nothing more. Space, practicality and cost are the paramount factors here. And a supermoto would get me lynched round here cranking that thing up at 7am, so that's out at the first hurdle !
