You dont lqauer Cellulose. Cellulose is flatted back and then polished to give the best result....not ideal for the engine bays hard to reach places!

Best results use a good 2k acrylic. Thats base coat and laquer. Base coat is apllied then laquer to give a really goo shine. Sometime still needs buffing but not to shine it just to remove particles of dust etc.

See my Engine bay restoration thread for the ultimate shiney experience lol!!!

you cant get holf of 2 pac? Are ya sure mate, i got mine from my local autopaint. All paint stockists ermmmm stock it!! LOL. Its the most common way of painting now mate!!! Youll be ok. Make sure ya wear a mask and take regular breathing breaks as it contain very harmfull chemicals such as syanide(spell)

You used to be able to get isocyanate(sp?) free paint, it'll cost a bit more but from a health point of view its got to be worth it.

I will try some where else. I went to a paint place in Cambridge and they asked if I owned a body shop. I said no and they said they cannot supply it to me.

I'd rather do it with 2Pac

Lee,

If you come from newmarket A14, get off at westley bury turning, come past the shell garage you come to a set of lights, do a right at them and it is up on that ind estate, follow it round to the left and you will see them on your right....

im having a change of plan and redoing the engine bay at the same time, and was going to ask this same question soon myself!

with cellulose, by saying it needs to be polished, is it just a case of a couple of hours with some t-cut, or cutting compound and proper wax and shit?

i would say you would need 1L of 2k black an 1L 2K hardner make sure you give your engine bay a good keying of with some 320 grade sand paper, then give it a prime with some 2k primer when the primer is dry give it a dust coat of satin black. This will show you any imperfections when you flat it down, use 800s wet and dry sand paper. Then give it a good clean down with a damp cloth. When its bone dry time for paint use a tack rag (sticky cloth) you should be able to get these from paint suppliers, removes any dust. when you buy your paint ask for some mixing cups this will make it easier to mix your paint. you should mix your black 2 parts black to one part hardner. hold gun about six inches away from pannel set your air presure at about 45psi over lap each stroke by about a quarter so you don,t get a dry line. give it one coat leave about 10-15mins then re coat.
JOB DONE HOPE IVE BIN SOME HELP AN JUST HAVENT RABBITED ON.
