im looking for a good tow car, preferably a 4x4 under a grand, and diesel

ive seen the hilus post so i was looking at them,

i was also looking at jeep cherokees, these seem very cheap. can get a 96ish diesel inder a grand?

what about vauxhall fronteras?

any other suggestions,ideally im looking for a 4x4.

ive just picked up a land rover discovery, 1995, FSH and 103k for Ł1200.

 

Shogun/Pajero. Easy bought for 1k.

 

Ł1200 seems mega cheap...that would be perfect...are they generally reliable then?

 

if serviced and looked after they can clock up near on 200k with ease.

mines just had a new turbo as the seals were starting to weep and it was getting smokey, maybe i was in the right place at the right time as i got it thru a friend.

even came with a spare set of steel wheels with off road tyres, tow bar, roof bars, brand new head unit and 12 months MOT. fits the quota perfectly for what i need it for.

 

shogun v6 is top tow car, but drink the gas 15mpg in town and 22 on a run and diesel turbo does 18 round town and 25 on a run ,petrol has more power

 

anyone got opinions on jeep cherokees?
