Has any one seen this utter pap/crap? can any one bring up some pics of examples?
I went to a vw show on sunday and i swear try as much as i did i couldnt understand the culture or what was going on. There was jazz music playing on in the background which made me un-esay and 90% of the cars were entered in the show and shine
i hope it dont catch on with fords. Its a fukin joke !!

Some examples of this totally stupid VW thing......
Looks utter pish if you ask me...... VW people should spend a bit more time working out how to get more power out the engines then they wouldn't need to fuck about trying to out do each other with stupid styling ideas

there was one mk3 golf, it was slammed on the deck like its suspension collapsed, it had a rusty bonnet a roof rack with a some coca cola tin on it and some selotape down the sides, on the rear number plate it had real playing cards stuck to it WTF
Do they do this because they aint got a clue on how to drive cars and modify engines? they had g60's there that had a chip and pulley done on it and people were fainting over it, vr6's with schreck or schrick bits on it and it was the best car in the world. there more to tell but il just puzzle you all - they are all in to this 'see we how we roll' shit and making westside hand gestures u can just picture the caps leaning to one side and baggy jeans round their ankles
i felt un-easy, im suprised dizzie rascal didnt turn up.
Do you think, fords will get to this stage? i hope not!

were trying 2 get away from rust and escape it its totally stupid in my view, its the dub seen trying to be different again when any one can make it all they have to do is kick there cars in and its the rat look

Rat look originates from early muscle car and hit rod culture in America, then copied by the VW lads, I am a fan of most of the VW culture, looking around any nice dub's and there are loads of very subtle touches that are always very impressive.
I remember seeing a pic of this geezer's car a while back, most of the roof had been caved in by a building collapsing on it after an earthquake, he had it repainted and had custom windows fitted, then drove it, it looked pretty good!

Rat rods were to show that the cars were built to be driven and not be a show car. They took there examples to the extreme over very rusty rod with only the bare essentials required for them to be driven, sort of we don't care what our cars look like we built them to enjoy them and drive them, Its just moved on since then with people building them as the like the "rat" look.

We've had the rat look for ages local to me, but it was always a bike thing with us, and as someone else mentioned it was all about speed, we used to call em Rat racers, things like old Z900's tuned to fuk really good brakes/tyres etc, but looking like they'd been stood in a shed for 10 years...
Rat cars should pretty much be the same thing, tuned to fuk but looking like they've just been dug out of a farm barn.
I love Dub's, and some Rat Dubs can look cool, but the whole Rust n Slammed look, I just dont get that.

It's one of those things that you either get, or don't - A kind of 'automotive Marmite'. Personally, I appreciate the time and effort put into any car to achieve a look. And I kinda like the self effacing nature of rat cars - Those in the know know that it's likely they're packing some serious heat, but those that aren't in the know don't matter.
If it's used as an excuse for a shit car, then it's shit, but if it's done for a purpose then I can appreciate it.
It's personal choice - some Rat lovers may mock the OCD nature of the concours scene, or the eternal optimism of the tuned Cosworth driver! Each to their own, and if it keeps them 'in' with their peers then what's the harm?

Second one is almost cool though. Would look better with a decent paintjob however.
Rat look is ok on some cars, but ive seen a pic of a MK5 golf, with rusty panels?? wtf man, what are these people thinking.
