How much would this cost to repair roughly?? As my mum has done this to her car and is deciding whether to pay herself or it would be cheaper to claim on the insurance and I wouold be grateful for some advice.

Theres damage to the door rubbing strip but not to the door itself as far as I can see.
Its an old shape micra aswell if it helps.
Thanks in advance

The insurance would write that off to be honest so if she wants to keep the car id advise having it repaired herself.
The insurance woulld quote for a new quarter. That coupled with all labour charges would be cost a hell of a lot more than what the car is worth to them.
I think its something like if the value of damage exceeds 2 thirds of the value of the car then its an uneconomical repair and gets written off

you could sort it yourself and make it look "half" decent for under Ł50 - get some Filler and paint from halfords, then get a window sucker to pull the dent out as best you can - fill any rough areas, paint, bish bash bosh jobs a good un'
Thats what i would do. Sod's law says some chunt will whack it in again in a supermarket car park just after its repaired!
The repair will be likely to come to well over a grand at an insurance approved body shop. Ł60 per hour labour plus paint and materials.
Changing a rear quarter aint a quick job.
Whereas for 300ish hundred quid a small body shop should be able to do something with it.
Possible pull it and fill it or cut a section of a scrap/damadged car and stitch it in and make good then paint
I would advise having it doen private as your not going to lose your no claims bunus. If you do claim and they write it off you have to deduct the excess. The bastard will try and tell you it aint worth owt and you have all the hassle of being without a car and trying to find a new one.

my mum went to a local shop that we have used before and he said 400 ish plus vat. Sounds more than what your saying but he does a very good job and cus we use him regularly(mine and my dads been for work there last few months) he knocked a bit off. AS I said maybe a bit more than you lot said but we trust him so not too bad.
