need to make the st rwd, but all the sump gubbins are at the front so perhaps it's not a case of putting the engine in as on the cross member

at the moment though, practically there is no where to put the turbo side engien mount as there are no holes there at all, so it looks like i'll hve to use 4 engine moutns on the engine instead

also, there is no power steering pump

and the alternator is driven by the air con pump

so lots of problems i can forsee happening there when the ac pump siezes up and fucks the alternator

although i'm going to try and source another alternator, or at least try and see if i can get the standard sierra one to bolt up and line up in place

yup, rwd is the future, i've seen it from loads of years ago, apparently cars handle better too

but nothing looks like making it rwd

i suppose i'll just have to bite the bullet and remove the sump and see what happens

thank you kind sir

it's going to go into a sierra of course

but if i can find a free mondeo then i may decide to put it into there instead as it will all jus tbolt up fairly easily, but where's the challenge in that

if i get a few days free it'll be in the engine bay once the sierra is in bits (the sierra is still hwole and almost running so that's an engine out in the front garden job too)

plus it won't stop fucking raining

i was surprised to see how compact the gearbox is, it's only about 14 inches wide

plus the fact that the sump seems to sit fairly low in comparison to where the crank is

the only downside i've got is that the oil collector sits right at the front of the sump which means i'll have to do some fabricating to see what i can do to relocate it

also, does the st have electric power steering? i've found the remenants of the pipes but no pump or belt to be driven off of

also, i'm going to change the timign belt, any ideas of how to set the timing up?

I know the timing belt requires specialist tools so i got told last night, it has to come off supposedly to remove the engine mounts, lol.

The sterring is a rack and pinion, ratio 14.8, power assist 60,5 mm/rev, lock to lock 2.38 revs.

Theres an st sump on ebay at the moment which clearly shows the insides if thats any help to ya.

theres a dirty great engine mount in the way of the timing belt and it attaches with some big bolts into the head casting, so that deffo needs to come off

what i was more alarmed baout is that you've got to take th timeing cover off to change the aux belts, not something i'd like to want to do in a hurry

shall check ebay forwith
