Default replacing rear wheel cylinders and brake shoes on mk6 escort

just replaced the rear wheel cylinders and rear drum shoes on my mk6 escort, got the new bits on fine but when i go to refit the hub back on it wont fit over the new brake shoes as they have more 'meat' on them then the old brakes.
have i missed something stupid??

why wont they go on

cheers

knock the adjustment right off on the shoes and handbrake cable, and make sure the shoes are located onto the backplate correctly.....

make sure the shoes are correctly fitted, ie leading and trailing

you may also have to physically squeeze the cylinder pistons in, as they will try to push out, especially with air in, due to them being un-bled

Do as jtech says and also use a small stick to just tap the shoes over as you put the drum on, it is caused because the shoes are not perfectly centred in a circle but on the piss, you will soon see which one is stopping it and a gentle nudge to push that shoe over will sort it.
