Default PassionBMW: BMW oil ratings

Evening peeps,

Can those of you with far superior knowledge than I tell me which oil is best to use in the old man's BMW. It's a new shape 520i with a approved oil spec of BMW LL01. Now some 5w-30 oils are LL01 approved and 0w-30 oils are approved. Which is the best oil to buy and what would give better performance as I know bugger all about oil viscosities and what works in what conditions.

Thanks!

It's funny because that's the oil I currently put in it to top up (what castrol recommend 0w-30 edge) but the computer has alerted us that it will need changing in a few hundred miles. So off to opie oils website I go for a oil service pack and it comes up with some titan 5w-30 stuff even though it's BMW LL01 approved and I thought weird.

On the oil cap it says BMW recommends castrol but fuck that. I don't doubt opie oils but was wondering why they don't list the castrol edge for it as well.
