eeek! bleed valve!
recently purchased a 90 S2, know it has stage 3 head, piper cam, race clutch, new garrett turbo(think standard t3) but not sure what else, previous owner mentioned uprated ecu but had no evidence.
Was having a good look round today, took ecu apart, and chip had motorola logo on, so thinking it not chipped?? On closer inspecton I came across a bleed valve!! (which Id rather not have) does this mean that the ecu has must have been uprated/chipped to compensate higher boost??
I dont currently have boost gauge, so dont know what running at, but will get one asap.
Other question is, If its not chipped, and i buy a chipped ECU, can I just plug it in and use, or does it have to be set up on rollers??
sorry if these are daft questions, newbie alert, please....be gentle

theres no problem with a bleed valve!!all that engine work with a std ecu sounds fishy!if u fit a chipped ECU in the ideal world, yeah should be RR'd,many dont tho
what do you mean sounds fishy?? is it possible to uprate ecu with chip with motorola logo on it???
I hae folder full of receipts, for everything mentioned above, but camt find anything relating to ecu

Bleed valves are sweet mate aslong as they set up by a tuner as your fueling has to be matched to your boost level, just had my 90 spec s2 set up by TURBOPACS Durham on their RR, running beutifully at 15psi (using a bleed valve). Give them a shout, found the guys very friendly and willing to have a good chat bowt shit, they seem to kna their stuff

boost gauge came this morning, fitted it and if its right, the boost goes to 15/16PSi so I guess it is chipped somehow, but when I opened the ecu, the chip has a motorolla logo on it, very strange
Any Ideas??
Any Ideas??
If the motorolla has had a the software reflashed then the boost limiter (which is all a chip is basically) may have been removed. Before you buy a boost valve, try and go in a car with an electronic boost controller, cost around thr £100 mark but gives you much more power to play with, not a bigger bhp figure, but more revs to play with
